Hi guys,

Does anyone have first hand experience of licensing any games into a Triple 7?

What I want to know if possible is, when Barcrest issue a license, is it issued to a specific machine, or can it be installed on any machine?

I know the licence can only be used once, but do you have to give them the serial number of the Triple 7 you want to install it into, or will it go onto any Triple 7?

Cheers!

Far as I know, it's a dongle that is plugged in to the machine, which authorises the licence, but I could be a bit south of the mark here..... could try checking with the folks at COAMAS, as I have seen these sorts of dongles on sale there before....

Hi Stan, thats absolutely right, the license is stored on a HASP dongle. I'm wondering if the license when it gets installed, needs the machines serial number before the licence gets created.

It works like this... Licence comes on USB/HASP stick, gets put into the PC in the machine, then goes from the USB/HASP stick to the HASP thats secured inside the machine.

What could happen, is the Licence is authorised in pretty much the same way windows 10 does, by linking itself with a serial code from the system's BIOS, or something along those lines, and a marker placed on the dongle as a double lock feature, so if say you need to replace the systemboard for whatever reason, you also need to replace the dongle.

basically you tell barcrest before you order, what your machine number is.

then you order (say rainbow riches pick n mix) and you receive a usb stick with the .bpak file, and then a unique security dongle.

you install  the game via the menu, then it asks for the security key dongle - this is what makes it play in door closed mode.

once used the dongle is useless.

Though they had changed that now? A yearly dongle instead?

Want to be proved wrong. Have one of these now :)

Excellent stuff mate... suppose you were to sell it, what would you be asking for it?

I'm guessing all those games are fully licenced, i.e. licences that never expire?

Not only is that a really good selection of games, its very unusual to find a machine with 9 licences! You've landed on your feet there, and at £3k, that was a bargain!

Good work squire!!

Let me know if you ever do want to sell it!

Haha, that is why I went for it. To note it also has the multi cat settings along with good games, so cat c and b3 all available at the same time.

I really want to get my hands on hammer horror top trumps bpak, either £70 or £250 if anyone can point me in the right direction?

I can't see me selling it for a very long time to be fair but will let you know if that day ever comes.

I do want to get my hands on Hammer Horror Top Trumps, cat c or b4.

Please someone have this bpak! I don't care if it's demo only, I loved this game back in the day and would love to play it through a few times :) The feature can last ages!

One of my favorite games too.

Sadly it was dropped by barcrest and removed from all terminals around a year ago.

Ive asked in several arcades over the game and all the staff tell me that games have some sort of term attached to them(a bit like a use by date!)

So it may be hard to come by unless someone has the game on an old unit.

I last played the game in Scarborough was December last year,

Jay

You may regret saying that, when the new car arrives it will be in need of a 'little run out' to make sure everything is ok ;)
