I've just purchased a 2004 (May 2004 built) Mazooma Gettin Ziggy with it
It already had an NV4 smiley front, and all the wiring but not the acceptor.
It just so happens I purchased an NV4 off ebay about 2 weeks ago but can't make it work - it will power up at first switch on but won't sync. I tried the BNV stuff (like for JCM's) but still no good. It also lights up when the hopper is paying and when resetting.
Any experts out there who can help me set it up or tell me what may be wrong? I've done a JCM no prob's and was told this is plug and play! not quite!
Its a Bell Fruit Eclipse cab, like I say only a year old, it has wiring for NV4 and JCM.
Thanks!
Martin

Yep, tried that. No good.
On the Bell Fruit/Mazooma/QPS Eclipse machines the 4 lights above the acceptor normally either light the first 3 (£5/£10/£20) or the 4th light (not availabe) - this shows the acceptor is talking (or the machine thinks its working) - I'm not even getting that far.
On my machine with the acceptor connected I just have all 4 lights on (£5 £10 £20 and not available) - normally indicating its not there and simply lighting the brand logo (i.e. bell fruit or mazooma).
Any other idea's?

the nv4 needs to be a cc talk / a nv4 with a bnv key as this a serial nv4 not a std parallel if ur loom runs from the scorpion 4 serial port at the bottom right hand corner then a serail n4 is need. if the nv4 runs from the aux parallel which sits next to the programe card then a std parallel nv4 is needed please rem that the nv4 serial is very tempermental the serial nv4 key i.e is 123456 or sim 9x out of 10 the code is writen on the top of the nv
once key has been entered and stored turn the machine off then back on then top the hopper up lock the doors and thats it take into account that if you ram clear the machine the nv4 will need to be reset

Thanks for the great help.
I definitly have the Scorpion 4 connection from the bottom right plug on the board NOT the aux port next to the game card.
A coupe more questions just to be clear please;
1. How can I tell what NV4 I have (Serial or parallel)?
2. What is the process to initialise the NV4 now you know the port off the board? i.e. do I need the BNV key?
I purchased the NV4 off ebay a coupld of weeks ago and have no idea if its serial or whatever - all I know is that it seems to work on boot up, lights up but then seems to go disabled by the CPU - making me thing I just haven't paired them right.
oh - another quick point when I put the BNV on a JCM it says "accepted" - on the NV4 it keeps saying "BNV no response" ??
Many thanks.
ps - I am an expert on the JCM through Bell fruit's help, but crap with these NV4's !!

u r running serial on scorp 4 nv4 is a parallel verson and not a serial one that why ur machine knows some thing is there but cant talk to it henes cc talk meaning serial like usb/ serial needs to have an id # to work when parallel is use under the aux card the id is fitted into the card
the top part of your note entry run down has a cut out of the side of it and ur loom is the uni verson ie runs nv4/jcm/lunma/nv7/8 if you can get a nv8 fornt smile and use a nv8
nv4 parallel will have no label on it saying cctalk or a 6 digit number as the serial verson will

Hi,
I have bell-fruit's "who wants to be a legionnaire", it is on £25 proms (wont change from £25/jp) and i have just got the Loom for the NV4 "note acceptor", however i can't get it to work...
When i turn the mc on you can hear the note acceptor do a little jig but the bezel (sp) light dont come on.
Also if i go into test on the machine and goto the "notes in" test, when i press the start button it says: "no acceptor", it also does this if i goto "notes in" via the refil key/top door open selection.
When the machine is on and i put a note in it takes about 5-10mm of it in then spits it back out again.
I cant see no lable hinting that it is "serial" and it is conected to a interface board via the expansion slot "next to the game card" (scorpion 4).
I think i have put everything but if anyone needs more info just ask.

Is it the right loom? Not used to these machines, but it sounds like there is the parallel and serial port that could be used. Maybe your note acceptor expects the other type?
Are there any markings on the note acceptor to indicate its version number or firmware revision, you could check with the people you got the loom from to see if your note acceptor is ok for the loom they supplied, and also if that type of loom is the right type for that model fruity..

Hi,
Yes everything seems to be correct.
When i got the NV4 i was told that it was a "paralell" one.
The loom is the correct one as it has a "bell-fruit" sticker (part num) on it and i have also just compared the wiring to the wiring diagram in the fruity's manual.
One thing i have noticed is that if i just supply the NV4 with a 12v power supply and nothing else it "acts" the same as it does when its plugged into the "Interface", thus begging me to think that i have a problem with the interface or the nv4.
It won't even take the note in and then spit it out, when you put a note in, as soon as it detects the note it just pushes it straight out (rollers turn to make the note come out).
I will try and get some pics of the N/A as soon as i can.
THANKS FOR THE ADVISE

Thanks, a serial NV4 is what I shall get.
I'm pretty sure the NV4 has never supported ccTalk. It does have a serial protocol in there called Smiley Secure Protocol but I don't think any manufacturer has bothered to implement it.
You need to get an NV8 that has ccTalk firmware in it, if it came out of a Bellfruit machine it should be programmed this way already. Before installing it make sure the the dil switches (on the note acceptor) are set to 'special' mode. 'special' just means the customised protocol on this firmware version as Innovative support a number of protocols in addition to ccTalk. You may also be able to plug in a Money Controls Lumina acceptor depending on what loom is fitted to your machine.

The 'no acceptor' message means the machine is unable to autodetect the note acceptor. This will explain everything else as it will not release the note acceptor's inhibit lines unless it knows there is an acceptor there. It's very likely to be a problem with the interface card or the loom, the acceptor itself is probably fine. Doesn't really help you to solve your problem though. :/
Btw, you can pick up manuals for the NV series at www.innovative-technology.co.uk.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, i took the interfase off and unsolderd (sp) a capasotor(sp) and then put it back in (capasotor missing) and it was no different then with it.
Therefore i am going to get another interface...
If anyone has one they want to sell, please let me know. I will pay via paypal (including the 25p + 3.4%) or Postal order, however only to "well known" members, otherwise it will be COD (sorry).
Kind Regards,

Hi,

Doing that makes it have no chance of working, you have created a break in the circuit. If the capacitor is faulty then get one of the same rating as the old one and solder it in it's place.

Hi,
I know, i just wanted to see if the result was the same as when it is in, and it was exactly the same with or without so it's got to be the interface thats the problem.
Plus i just double checked the wiring (loom) and thats all ok, again just leaving the interface.
