Dialtone made a sound tool that let you extract the sound files so they could be played in windows media player, i lost my copy of it though.

What do you need it for Ross?

If it's not to actually edit a machine you will see in the zipped attachment I easily recorded Capt Scarlet using Windows Sound Recorder and saving as Winamp.

You should find dialtone on FF.

Love to be able to do it myself so i could get some samples downloaded on my pc to chuck on to my mobile as tingtones, message tones etc. A bit geeky i know but would be different to my usual crappy tones. Anyone else do this ??

I must be a geek too, cos I wanna do the same for my mobile phone...problem is that my phone can't play WAV's.
Does anyone know of a program that can convert the sound to either MP3, AMR or MIDI format? (Phone friendly sound formats!)

.... and maybe a better recording program than Windows Sound Recorder as this records using a rough sounding PCM format.

It's been AGES since I did some actual wav>mp3 encoding, but if you search for something like LAME in Google you should find something. I used to use BladeEnc... but that was in the days before I had internet up here :)

To convert a song to MIDI seems like a barmy idea, it should be easy enough to find ANY song you want in MIDI through say Google. Don't forget though that if you find a MIDI it is purely synthesised instrumental, so you won't get 'vocals', and if you tried converting anything with vocals to MIDI you'll end up with the vocals being done in a piano, if you are lucky :)

Ok, thanks for the tips Bencrest... I guess it's time for me to get googling!

Hopefully I can get the "Ker-ching" sound on my mobile as a message alert,
and maybe the feature music from JPM's Pinball Wizard as a realtone as I love that music...

Thanks again!

Dont know if this helps but my PC sound card (Soundblaster) has a "record what you hear" option. You can then save this in a choice of formats. I do this to record all manor of things and then download them to my mobile. It makes for some unique ringtones :)
