My father's perfectly good PC has not had any sound for a while. I assume the on board unit has packed up and I can replace it with a dedicated card instead.
He doesn't need anything particularly good, but all that the Internet offers is stuff that's not very cheap, or stuff that's suspiciously cheap and very Chinese (and will take forever to arrive).
Does anyone have an old working card that they don't need which is cluttering their place up? I can cover the postage for it and/or offer a membership upgrade.
Otherwise can anyone recommend anything that's cheap and in the uk?

That's an interface, mainly for connecting audio equipment inwards to a PC. Not really want I'm looking for.
He just needs a cheap output device to connect computer speakers into.

You've actually reminded me, I think I might have exactly that somewhere at the back of a shelf somewhere! I'll have to try to dig a tunnel through over the weekend...

I can't properly remember but they might possibly be the Mark 1 version. We'll see.
If they are then I'll probably get a cheap USB adaptor and see how it goes.

Yes at least Dad will be be able to play his music files again, and it can be part of his Christmas present seeing as he's not very easy to buy for!
On another note, if anyone wants any Proteus system parts let me know.

I got this in the end, at the time it was reduced to £4.59 plus delivery. Seems ok at the moment and cheaper than eBay!

We will see how long it lasts but it certainly seems better quality than the see-through plastic cased ones that are available.
