Thought it was about time I posted an update on this, a somewhat elusive game for a number of years ... only having gone back to the original thread to give it a proper title I can't find a way to edit - there's a link "topic moderation" but only a "delete" option, so, here we go, a new thread, where i'll hopefully be able to report further progress on the repair over the coming weeks/months.
Some photos taken back in August when I picked it up ...
... 1979 appears on the glass, so perhaps it's older than the manufacturers list date would suggest.
The board in it was showing a problem around the black switch loom connector. Inspection of the wiring revealed a bare (spare?) purple/red stripe wire next to the token validator, some loose (worn out) crimp terminals on the nudge up/hold/nudge down switches, no refill switch assembly (wires connected together) and subsequently (but unfortunately not before I fried another working board, having initially missed it) an additional (5th) connection on the back door cherry switch (on the Normally Closed 1 terminal - the black/white stripe wire is one of a pair of additional coin switch wires built into the loom but unused - my Hi-Lights converted Triple Chance is the same and also exhibits a purple/red stripe single wire with no crimp terminal next to the far right/far left-from-front coin mech).
So after the initial delay of not having a fully working board to hand, managed to get my Spotlight operational, tested the Silver Circle cart in it and got a boot with a nice attract mode (the cash gamble lamps illuminating in sequence - something missing on the SPL programs i've tried and something it would have been nice to see incorporated).
This evening, been able to fire up the SC for the first time and found several faults.
The 60p lamp does not light, although bulb is working.
The reels appear to have an indexing problem and the machine alarms on first credit spin.
The nudge display lights up incorrectly and when the start buttons are pressed out-of-credit - odd.
The token validator does not register a credit when accepting a token.
So with a Spotlight reel assembly in place until the fault with the SC deck can be traced, here's the first (sketchy) video of the long-lost SC doing it's thing ...
