Ive got my 1st machine Squids In, after a bit of reading on here ive found out how to turn the volume down, but how do i find out what the payout percentage is & how do i change it? Ive took a quick pic of the inside which has some percentage key thing which i dont want to touch before i know how to use it. Also what does the bank 2 option switches do & what is the stake prizes thing for? Ive got the manual but none of this is mentioned. Sorry for being such a novice but im willing to learn

by the look of it you dont have a percentige or stake /prize key there is something that looks like a set of dips but i cant make them out

When you turn the machine on, what does it say on the alphanumeric display?
You may need to change the percentage key, or you may be able to use the switches. First what does it say on the display

if you look closely at the pic you can see some pins stuck into the holes unless my eyes are going bad

there is a percentage key in, but some cheapskate has soldered directly onto a 9-pin d plug, rather than fitting a proper on. Same result, just looks bad.....

yup, it does look like it...
I would do that on a machine for my own use (cos I dont like wasting money)
but would not sell one like that.
If they have the right version software, they can bin the key and just use the switches.

when i 1st turn it on it says 15c25 sqin, if i open the top up it says 15c25 sqin0.6. Sorry for the quality of the pics its from my webcam - on both the percentage key & stakeholder prize there is a piece of black wire that has been soldered into different pins. Is there no way of changing it with the refill key ? At the moment its paying out too much, u could put £5 in & get £30 easily

Think you may be ok doing the following, as it looks like your rom isnt forcing the use of a percentage key (but had a few so it may not work)
Turn machine off....
Unplug the percentage key.
Make a note of the current settings of switches 5,6,7 and 8 on
bank 1 on the mpu (not the switches on the program card near the current
percentage key)
Set as the switches to the percentage you want from the table below
70% OFF OFF OFF ON
72% OFF OFF ON OFF
74% OFF OFF ON ON
76% OFF ON OFF OFF
78% OFF ON OFF ON
80% OFF ON ON OFF
82% OFF ON ON ON
84% ON OFF OFF OFF
86% ON OFF OFF ON
88% ON OFF ON OFF
90% ON OFF ON ON
92% ON ON OFF OFF
94% ON ON OFF ON
96% ON ON ON OFF
98% ON ON ON ON
get back to us if it works ok.
Enjoy new percentage.
Buy me a drink if you ever come up my way

ps if the machine works without the key, dont expect the new percentage to make a difference straight away... They take ages to adjust to new percentages..... But they will eventually.

Ok ive pulled the key out and the machine works fine. When you say the switches of the mpu i hope ive been changing the right ones - see in the attached pic. If so they were all closed except number 1 - which would mean that 5 6 7 8 were all OFF which is 70% ? If so then its always going onto the feature board so you can win loads which i wouldnt have thought if the odds were low. When you change the percentage payout how long does it normally take to come into effect ? If i bought a key how much are they roughly & would that change the percentage straight away or still have the same effect ?

Hmm just noticed on the percentage key 1 4 5 have all been soldered together. How does that fall into those percentage switch positions in the earlier post

the machine should show target and actual percentage, what are they set to?
Setting via a key, or via switches will take exactly the same amount of time.
How long that is, only the programmer of the game can say.....
Little drunk so going to bed shortly, but find out what the machine is running at (if 80% then its defaulting, i think, too tired to remember exactly).
Remember a machine is set to meet its target percentage over something like 100 thousand plays, or something daft like that, so changing percentage, is not going to have a big effect in the short term.....
