Before you anser read this,

ASTRA GAMES SAY:
--------------------
Stake: 10p per line Jackpot: £25 per line Maximum win of £500
Stake: 5p per line Jackpot: £10 per line Maximum win of £200

Section 16 - 'Provision of amusements with prizes at certain commercial entertainments'.

Maximum stake per bet 50p
Maximum cash prize £25
No limit on non-monetary prize (agreement on maximum of £15000 or a medium family car)
Aggregate stake cannot exceed £90
Must have a random number generator
Requires a 'Local Authority Permit'
Can be sited in Arcades and Travelling Fairs
No VAT payable

BUT THEY FOR GET MANUFACURERS/SUPPLIERS CODE OF PRACTICE
WHICH CLEARLY STATES
-----------------------------------------------------------------
2.2 The Random Number Generator (RNG) must be independent and physically separate from the player terminals, other than connecting wires etc.
(WHICH IT IS NOT)

1.8 No player should be able to play more than 7 games on any one position at the same time, regardless of whether these games are in view or not
(YOU CAN BET ON 20 GAMES AT ONCE)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

So what do you think ?

I think if they continue like this that when the new gaming bill goes through section 16 will be out ruled and ruin it fir everyone else.

I am sure that they are within the law, however, from an ethical point of view (not that there are any ethics in the "amusement" industry), these things are total and utter evil, making Party Time look like a walk in the park.

Behind the dancing cartoon characters and cutesy graphics lies a ruthless "game" plan that is easily capable of stripping the player of £1000+ in a day's play, without a sign of a jackpot. Believe me, I've seen it happen.

The sad thing is that people are falling for this nonsense in a big way, and the takings are far exceeding the "controlled percentage" machines, so no doubt randomness will totally take over within the next couple of years. The things will cause a few houses will be reposessed, no doubt about that.

the random number generator is seperate from the the rest of the machine as it lies in the empty space inside the base of the machine and is conected to the pc via a usb cable.

the other point a believe is this.

no player is allowed by the arcade or site to play 7 or more seperate games(machines) at any one time(i think this applies if the machines are all connected so there is a progressive jackpot like in vegas.

every time you press spin on a machine is classed as 1 game.

i would say this looks the case but when we recently emptied a section 16 casino king, mexicano slotto and a party slotto the casino king had made an overall profit of £700 in 2 months, mexicano slotto was around £1200 and party slotto was about £800.

this was calculated after around £6500 was put through all 3 machines on average.

so some people out there are winning.

On PGS you are playing ONE game, and making 20 bets on that game. This is no different to betting on 20 numbers on ONE roulette wheel.

Baz, you're right about the RNG, it is not physically attached to the cabinet - it simply hangs down in the space to the left of the cashbox area.
Watch out! There's a SIG thief about...

I think that on 1p per line £50 JP they could be more acceptable -
10p Play, £25 JP or
20p play, £50 JP.... I'm totally against £2 per spin, when you consider that a £1000 JP fruit machine has only 50p per spin.

As others have pointed out at £2 per game you're playing 20 chances at 10p per chance. Each chance can award a maximum cash prize of £25. Which gives a stake of £2 and a max cash prize of £500 per game. It should be noted that the £500 limit is only a guideline and not the law. In theory you could offer as many chances as you want, giving £1,000 or £2,000 jackpots. Although any BACTA registered manufacturer would be thrown out for offering such a product.

As for the new gaming bill it's already gone through. Although the future of S16 style games is very unclear. It's likely they'll be reclassified as one of the four £500 JP £1 stake machines allowed in arcades.

Same here,

Time 1) £2.50 stake, £2.50 in and approx £200.40 out [maybe I put 40p in, but it dropped 4x10p?!]. Tried another Slotto machine, 10x£2.00 spins and NO WIN at all, so £160.40 profit.

Time 2) £20.00 stake [bored, annoyed at all sorts**], £10.00 in and £127.00 out.

Time 3) £60.00 stake [bored, annoyed at all sorts], played to £0.00

Theres a valuable lesson to be learnt there.

I know I said I'd given up machines, but when I get really pissed off with life I tend to think 'sod it', and lob the cash into a machine like that. Heck, someone has to win, it might be me from past playing, and I'd only waste the cash anyway.

What inevitably happens is I lose all my cash, go home, hate myself and have no cash over the following week :)

Having said that, 100% determined that I'll never play a fruit machine again. Even over the last year, my losses [I've worked it out approximately via a spreadsheet ;)] have gone from £2700 to £220.

If you HAVE to play a Slotto, heres some valuable tips - especially to people like me susceptible to gambling as a way of 'escaping from reality'....

1) Take a minimum amount of cash. Put the other cash towards something, i.e a credit card bill, any other bill, so you literally can't use it - or spend it on groceries or something useful so again you have a very small stake you can afford to lose.

2) LEAVE CREDIT AND DEBIT CARDS AT HOME. I lost £20 in a Slotto, took my 'emercency' credit card to the bank, took out £20, lost it, went back, took out £20.

3) DO NOT play fruit machines [particularly high JP high stake ones] in order to cheer up / escape reality / or anything like that.

4) DO NOT play fruit machines [again, particularly high JP and high stake ones] to get yourself out of debt, or to raise cash for anything!!

That £40 cost me 2x£2 Cash Advance Fees, and made me go over limit. That £40 in a damn fruit machine ended up costing £70. Just don't bloody do it!!

**Hopefully, you'll win cash. If not, at least you've not lost enough to ruin your day :)**

A bit of valuable info from the forums confused 19 year old ;)

yeah the RNG has be supplied by a third party also - so there is no definate rigging of the numbers that are generated.

these games suck!!

might be worth a £20 note but leave it as that.

sad news is that most games may be like this in a few months!

AFAIK all games in Australia are already like this, it is feasible that they will become much more common here but I'm not conviced the £25 random machines in pubs did very well :)

Good advice from bencrest about only taking limited funds.

On the matter of:

"On PGS you are playing ONE game, and making 20 bets on that game. This is no different to betting on 20 numbers on ONE roulette wheel."

Suerly PGS is like having 20 balls in 20 roulette wheels ?
