hi
im a newbie to this site and i was reading up on this thread about the Astra Red Hot Slotto.
its a great machine to play but can consume a LOT of cash fast but where i live if anyone gets a decent win from the machines, the owner of the arcade rushes out to top them up to fool the customers into thinking that the machines are all ready to pay out
i played one only yesterday and lost over £300 thinking why isnt it paying out when all the coins dropped and all i won was £15. after losing i was told by one of the staff that they had just been topped up
I'm sure the machines know that its payed out and that reserves are low therefor top itself up when being played (without being topped up by the owners), would anyone consider that cheating their customers?
However this is one seriously addictive game and the Astra company has made some exelent machines.
one last point if none of Astra's games can be Emulated then how do they program and test them and on what?
kind regards

Hi Ruler..
As machines like Party Games Slotto [don't know where the Red Hot bit came from, not the machine I was thinking of] are Random, in theory 'backing' does not mean it'll pay out. Similarly, nothing to stop the machine from dropping a JP after it has been refilled.
With regards to emuators, Astra Party Games Slotto is a standard piece of PC software, but it won't run on a home PC [as far as I know], because it will look for certain components before it starts.
It has a Random Number Generator in the base of the machine [to qualify for Sec16 [Random] status, the machine must have a Random Number Generator attached to it].... so if you tried running Slotto on the PC, you'd probably get an error about not having the RNG attached.
That bit about topping itself up.... if it didn't do that, it wouldn't have enough coins to pay?
You seem to have a mixed up idea of how fruit machines work... the amount of coins in does not determine how much it pays out. What determines this is the percentage payout [and amount above or below this figure], or on a Random machine it is determined PURELY by the Random Number Generator. I could pour £1000 into the hopper of one of my machines, and it would still play like crap, simply because it is designed to pay out £700 per £1000 in or thereabouts.

They also get very empty as alot of people just slide a note in, win a few £1s, collect them out. Next one dose the same, and again, again, again etc. Empty machine, fat heap of notes, top up £1s, start again. Owner has a new car

i love this machine. ive had 6, £500 jackpots in as many weeks and its never cost me more than £80 each time (ammited i have lost £80+ on many occasions) i have some pics of the jackpots on my phone (all of them (all 6)) so as soon as some on can explain how i uplad pics on this site i will. I have a method of playin it and it "SEEMS" to work at times. even if it does not i find its takes me a good few hours to loose even £100 and if uve played this machine youll know how greedy it is. normal is £100 gone in 10 mins max. the arcade that i goto has now pointed 3 of its cameras at the machine as they are convinced that im upto something. one of them even pulled me to one side for a little "chat" today! i expect ill get banned if i get another soon. its nothing to see the kebab shop owner put £1500 plus in this in one eve! no wonder it keeps giving me money! i am talkin about the astra party time slotto, i also have not herd of the "red hot" ver. they put a new £500 pound one in today by "gamesoft" (reno casino! (bad game)) tried £20, didnt like it much though. (dont know what the name of the machine is but it had an lcd screen and monkeys on it)

I don't think there is any real method for a Random machine.
If I had a method [and I don't, I wouldn't play the awful pieces of crap with more than £5 stake once a week], it would involve the following :
Stick at 10p per spin, play it as much as possible without getting a JP.
Change to £2 per spin if you've had say 100 spins at 10p without a major win and hope that you are closer to a JP
I'd like to hear the method but fail to believe it is of any real use.

Oh, also, when you refer to 'Red Hot' Slotto, do you mean Little Devils Slotto?

here are the pics as promised. the sixth pic is just after i got the jackpot and it had just been refilled, hence the 2 arcade attendants. (one filling the green bucket" with my £500 pound coins to change into nice crisp £20 notes!) x6 jackpots in x7 weeks! with what i have put in (and sometimes lost a fair bit!) i reckon im around £2300 up on this machine. just found out i can only upload 5 pics. will post the other tomorrow

That's a result shaun2097....Got the balls to push it like most Grannies at Bingo don't do--with their 1 line 10p-a-go.....
I'd have kept an eye on that dodgey bloke sitting down though
I agree....I chanced a few quid, and also had a nice result-although I cannot afford the outlay every week it's the sure way of getting there due to the 'other players'......
Your post looks sound, you said you lost a few times and the pic's back the wins...theres the proof......

Sorry to resurrect this guys, being a site newbie, I found the topic very interesting.
One thing that puzzled me was on one of the flyers that someone had put a link to. Namely this one
How can a Random Number Generator offer an average return of 92.x%, surely anything offering an "average return " has to be programmed to meet this.
If I recall, randomness is based upon the laws of probability, thus the odds of something happening is the same every spin (the odds of getting a jackpot should be the same every spin) - and given the number of spins by these things all round the country every day, a Jackpot followed by a Jackpot on the next spin should be a common occurence, but I think you'll find it isn't, therefore it isn't random.
Apologies in advance if i'm repeating anything previously discussed, or for talking bollox !!

Theres more to this site as you know mate....and if you are unsure then ask....
Chrikes, in all this time I have asked some real stupid things, things even since being a Moderator I can delete, but I think...why alter?...I'm only human--and after all this is far from my life--it's like you a hobby....
Got some advice you think will help.....post it mate......

there is a possible way to be radom and have a %
for example
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
this would not be possible for a percentage apart from the obvious 1/9 chance
1 2 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
the number 2 would have a higher % chance of being hit giving a 2/9 (higher % chance)

What r u trying to say Romx... im rather confused mate lol
Mabe the case could be that...
If the number one means J/P and numeber 9 means sumut $hitty like 50p or whatever... then there could be more no 9's than number ones. and more other numbers. This mabe where the % is linked to the randomness (is that a word lol)
Just a thought!
Does anyone else understand where im coming from?

Take the 2's as being 'cherries'...the lowest win value....therefore the random generator has more Two's than Nine's...so more cherries..the 9 being the JP so only One number 9 on each 'reel' generator
The numbers (as said) represent the reels.....so you are more likely to get Four 2's (cherries) than Four 9's....Jackpot....
so no more random (where the odd's are stacked against you) than 'pre-determined' reel spins?

Thanks for the welcome guys, appreciate it.
Romx - thx for the reply, if you use the notion that you pull a "random" ball out of a bag of balls numbered 1-9 and return that ball, the odds of you pulling 12345 and 12234 in order are exactly the same (1/9*1/9*1/9*1/9*1/9). The odds only change if you don't put the ball back, there fore your not measuring melons with melons.
The same should be said for these machines, it is dependent on the odds of a jackpot falling - say 1,000/1 per spin, there is a 1,000/1 chance it will drop the very next go (1/1,000*1/1,000) - lol a million to one shot, the Saga grannies at our local Gala do those sorts of numbers every night on these things.
However, what the flyer states is that 92.6% of your investment will be returned, how do you do the "random maths" to achieve that ? only by programming it, surely ?

I love this site, it's like 7-heaven all over again.
Just read the replies, they perhaps explain the potential for the number generator better than mine

All the cominations are made so it's very unlikely for the JP to fall in....as it's allways been.
