Someone will still own the rights to it somewhere.

Thankfully anyone who may cared, have left FME alone, perhaps because in this case, it's not hurting their business and hasn't in the past.
If anything, I would play an emulated machine for real if I saw one and maybe even play a machine I wouldn't have before, if I had played it emulated.
It's also not like say emulation of a video game system, where people may not bother for instance to get a Wii U, if they can play Cemu and download games for it. Or even older systems, where retro gaming is on the upsurge, such as the PS2, where Sony are now trying to sell classic PS2 titles remastered on the PS4. In most cases the PS2 emulator and a decent PC, can produce better results, so it's definitely a threat to business, but even then, there is no sign of any action, it's too widespread.
I'm not sure anyone, could really come up with a compelling reason to waste time and money against FME, doing what damage to what business, unless they want to releases they own emulators and sell machine packs, but I think that ship has sailed. I'd also think that most of the roms/artwork etc, would have to come from the same sources as what has been used for FME.

Ive spoke to many friends in the arcade industry(in the past) and many of them were already members of or knew of the emulation sites.
Have never encountered negativity or heard the mention of having a problem with it.
A few owners think it's more entertaining to play for real than it is to play for fun/free.
I disagree,I get more enjoyment playing for free/fun or demo than I do playing for real-as im losing no money but still getting 100% enjoyment.
I also think that in part the emulation sites give free advertising to the arcade industry(so I hardly see why they would complain or take issue over emulation) -yet ive never a see an advert for emulation sites in any gaming site ive ever played in !
The gaming industry needs all the input it can muster at the present time-as gaming venues up and down the country are falling by the way side,
The new going out is defo staying in for many people-you only have to look at the nightclub industry and it's gradual demise.

As long as modern are not emulated we should be ok.
Thats why Wizard left the £100 out.
Empire have moaned in the past & site had to remove all their games.

I was thinking the batch of DOND games that are available are still active out there in the arcades on £70jp - is there a cut-off point to which games cannot be emulated, like a guideline/unwritten rule that has been agreed?
For me, playing DOND on the emulator have highlighted how repetitive and uninspired the game-play is, in fact, it's probably deterred me from playing when I'm out.

I don't play AWP's often, but all the machines I see in pubs are beyond anything we have emulated and it's rare to see anything not £100. As for a cut off point, well I guess that depends on the limitation/functionality of the emulator, i.e. no £100 jackpot key usable and scorpion 6/mpu6 not emulated. That'll stop 99.9% of machines released in the past 3 years being emulated, I would imagine.
I do agree with DOND being repetitive and uninspiring, but then again, things have moved on since the machines we see emulated, the latest DOND emulated I believe, is DOND Golden Game, from 2013. Also repetitive and uninspiring accounts for most machines released in the past 10 years, but that doesn't stop some of the most boring machines ever (lo tech, auto play, 3 winning combinations) being popular. There is of course always the chance that the £100 could come from the first £1 play outside, enough to keep anyone interested still playing.

I have always seen the £100 JP machines but cannot play them as sound has been turned off! Don't tend to play on awps much, prefer to lose fake money onscreen than real money, although I still have my monthly trip to the local Quicksilver arcade. This, however, is almost gonna be history as they now have a lot more £500 out there, mostly touchscreen. Where are you most likely to see club machines? Never seen one in real life apart from FME! Also, I don't really want cops coming to my door prossicuting me for using FME, I'd be devastated.
