Hi all,
Just wanted to pop back on to apologise to everyone who was disappointed that I could never release my Epoch emulator. I fully accept any criticism
Basically what happened:
I had the emulation finished and working pretty much perfectly within 4-5 months of starting development. The problems came when I was finalising the graphics engine. I was using the Microsoft WPF framework and unfortunately I discovered way down the line that it had major performance issues. I spent months trying to work around these issues but I just couldn't get it working well enough.
Sadly as I was getting married and had much larger work commitments, I felt I had no choice but to shelve the project. I just didn't have the time to re-design and re-write the graphics engine and designer.
So anyway, it's great to hear that Wizard has released a new version! Over the next few weeks I'll go through all my many boxes of Epoch stuff I've collected over the years and make sure I've uploaded everything.
This is the web site I used to keep track of the Epoch ROM resources I have:
This may not be fully up to date and I may have already shared most of this. I think I have roughly 120 complete sets (sound and game). If anyone wants anything immediately off this list please let me know.
Many thanks

Welcome back bud, wise, err, coors! I now have all the simpsons trilogy on my MFME V 5, both Homer's Meltdown and Simpsons classics are both working great, £25 and £5 for Meltdown, £15 for Duff Beer, and £5 and £10 DX for Simpsons! Have been wondering when you'd come "Crawlin' back!"

Thanks for the explanation, I can certainly empathise on the performance front, I have spent a great deal of time getting things to run smoothly over the years.
Do you have both sound ROMs for Dambuster by any chance ?
- Geddy and I have finished like this
Warning: This post is mostly my own opinions and may contain irony, if you are obsessed with PAST history you may want to ignore it.

Hi allSadly as I was getting marriedMany thanks
1st......Mate I had to quote that bit....If the missus can read your account the PM a member of staff and we'll alter it so it won't say 'edited' hahaha.
Fella, I have been looking at all you did in the time you was trying to create a new platform..
You had 'cough' followers and those followers showed their wank when things went tit's-up and nothing was being shown (fair to say) as promised....and they just (Brown nosed sods) 'jumped-ship.
Respect geeze, it WAS a shame you and Wiz didn't tie-up, but Wiz as we all know knows the coding and may well have had it in all the while you was trying to crack it and give it to us.
Harvey has in the interim re released DIF too as you know......some few years ago I was granted 'privileges' to comment on his site......They were the 'good days of FME' i'm amazed there's not a review though on the new emulator
Geddy has taken some right s**t the past few day's for no reason....you've had it for months......Geezer ..... Married? ... Got it for YEARS now son
Thanks for all you did for us.

I honestly thought the display engine would be the easy bit and I'd struggle with the emulation! It was completely the other way round. It did actually look awesome as I used custom rendering and pixel shaders to create HDR glow effects on the lamps and motion blur on the reels. If I'd just stuck to plain DirectX and kept the designer simple I would have gotten it performing properly and released! It was so frustrating.
BTW many thanks to Tony and Nick and everyone who helped me with technical information at the time! It was much appreciated.
Pretty sure I have the sound for Dambusters, will check this evening

25 Carrot Gold - I do have 2 sound ROMs for this but I'm unsure if they're correct as I don't remember dumping/testing them... (They could be for 25 from Extreme)

Club Gridrunner (Impulse) - This only used a single 8meg sound prom as a lot of the club machines did (not sure why). Also uses a belt reel (this stumped me for a while!)

Sorry had a feeling that was the case
Double Impact (Maygay) - I've got 3 sets of sound proms dumped by the looks of it.
1 set definitely looks wrong as they're only 1meg.
Going by the compression ratio, doubleimpact_snd0.bin/doubleimpact_snd1.bin looks like your best bet
