As titlw says, its estimated that 85% of vending machines will acccept the new £1.  I am not sure if that means that 85% have been converted to accepr it or it they will accep it anyway as its very similar!

Wouldnt it be lovely it tomorrow comes and we put a new coin into our machines and it just works!!...yea i know probably not but nice to dream :-)

Hi Chris, I've not yet felt the new £1 coin, yes I know it's early days, but I need to get first-hand experience as I am blind and need to get the shape of it so I can get to recognise it. Due to my autism, I need to get used to a change of routine, but the fivers were OK as I had a system of keeping them straight then folding teners in half and 20's in half and half again. It's just that we've got a whole load of old £1 that we need to use before, uh, when was it? Think it was October.

Post offices will most likely take them forever. They still take the old style £2s and large 50ps.

My local NatWest has promised me some soon as they arrive, which could be as early as tomorrow.

No, they won't work in un-modified mechs.

We have been using them in our vending machines at work since monday when they started coming through, so i can only guess they have had their mechs updated before general circulation.

Hoppers seem to work fine with them but tubes possibly a bit iffy.

Apparently they payout of tubes no problem according to someone on the mecca.
Not got my mitts on any yet to try.
They are not much bigger compaired apart from the corners stick out a bit.

I just had my sr5 reprogrammed to take new £1 coins plus the new 5p's and 10p's as I never bothered when they came into circulation.

I used this guy http://www.ebay.co.u...=p2047675.l2559

I rand him from one of his listings on ebay, he's a really nice bloke to talk to and done off ebay and money sent as a gift via Paypal he charged me £16 including return postage.

I posted the mech to him on Monday tea time and it arrived back this lunchtime, stuck it in and tried it, not one coin rejected everything going to correct exits with original routing plug in I'm so happy with the deal I thought I should mention it here.

He will also do mechs while you wait if you're close to him, but you need to ring first to arrange a time and day etc. 1.gif

This may be a daft question, but once updated will the coin mech stop taking the old £1 coin? or will it then accept both?
