Any advise much appreciated was placed in my text my friend. Why defensive stance? Funny response for request for help, not very friendly response, such a shame

my sincere apologies. you have no idea how many newbies signup and demand help without asking nicely.

Ignore Nails he is a tosser care to give us a little more information to go  on no corrosion on the board etc? Also you might have luck at the mecca www.fruitemu.co.uk plenty of experts on older machines there.

Nails is a tosser, and im the one who's offensive?

thanks for the `like` ady.

Hi all, well I have replaced the battery and well.... no change. It did display an "A" code in the LED display but that vanished. So no change still nothing but fluorescent lights now all work. So far I have replaced fluorescent tubes, battery, starters and front fuses. So next is the motherboard. Can anybody suggest a company that repairs boards? Thanks again

Just got a pm from Magik and his reply is below looks a ram issue.

Pass a message onto him that IC9,24, tr60, 61 ,55-59 and 62 if it has that all need to be replaced as standard and both RAM sockets will need to be renewed.  The sockets on an MPU3 are single blade and they are totallly rubbish .

The RAM is readily availible again btw on ebay, search for P5114.

I tried to contact Magik via mpu mecca, I asked administrator to pass on my details and I tried to contact him via a link but have had no luck. The machine is now in my garage awaiting either  someone who could help repair it or the tip/ebay. I have tried a couple of companies to repair it but no luck.

Any advise would be much appreciated.

many thanks

:err:

Probably coming in around the £85 mark if interested.  Also, you could subscribe to Magik's Youtube channel and ask his through that.  I know he's after new subscribers at the moment.

Thank you for the comments, I had just about given up. I left messages for site administrator to pass on message. This site does not allow users to chat to other users. it kept say "not granted access" or words to that effect. Quite frustrating, I registered with Mecca but site does the same. So just put machine in corner of garage to gather dust, no good flogging a dead horse. It makes a good electric light lol

Im going to assume you can solder so try jump starting it.  Desolder T59, and R79.  That disconnects the reset line from the board.  Now plug power , reels, opto and alpha display back into the board.  sit the board on a chair behind the machine or something like that so that the cables reach.  get a crocodile lead and put one end of it on the 0v test point.  (crocodile leads readily availible from maplins etc, ebay)  put program card in.

Switch on, wait 5 seconds then touch the other end of the crocodile lead to the /R test point.(R with a line above it, not R/W). That will manually fire reset - does the board start?

Good morning,

Thank you for getting back to me, it is great to have contact with you. I am a complete novice, I purchased the machine for a few pounds and the previous owner had said when they first had it it worked. I had done a few very basic things like replaced all the fuses and replaced the blown light tubes. It now lights up and the LED display is a bit hit and miss, sometimes it comes on, sometimes not. When it does it does not display any error details letters or numbers.

If you place the chunky old style 10p's in the slot they just go do nothing, you press the reject key and it goes through the machine, the same with the tokens. I replaced the mother board battery a couple of months back. But as commented I have not done much more as full time work has gotten in the way. So basically it is sitting in my garage as a playground for spiders. I have no clue about electronics tbh.

If you were willing to take it on board I could remove and post the motherboard to you?, more than willing to pay for parts and your time, it would be cool to have it up and running again. Maybe somehow I could give you a call.

Thank you again

SC
