Is it illegal to take pics of a fruit machine? Cant see why it would be or maybe iam being naive. Iam a delivery guy for a photgraphic company , perks of the job are been able to visit loads of different arcades in seaside resorts etc and as a hobby really i like to take photos mainly of the older fruit machines but also the newer ones .
On the whole i dont get asked what iam doing just get some weird looks from punters sometimes lol but lately i have been asked to leave the arcade , Its happened twice now .. What possible advantage could i be gaining from taking a photo of a machine , as this is obviously why iam being expelled in the eyes of the management i suspect anyway..
When i have questioned the reason one guy said its illegal now P**S Off .
I didnt respond to him as he was twice the size of me and was looking rather red in the face lol so just left mumbling something in his direction but making sure i was atleast three paces in front of him lol ..
I can see that iam not putting money in his pocket and maybe the loitering rule comes into affect but surely its not illegal ?
Any one else had this problem? iam assuming other people have taken photos of fruitys before or is it just me that does this lol ..

I was taking pictures of a machine a month or so ago, the guy walks up to me and tells me it is illegal, i asked him why and his only answer was that it was the law of the land.
Anyway, with me being a big chap i just carried on, he didn't come back to throw me out though.

Most ( i say most as several arcade owners frequent here), arcade workers have the collective IQ of my 6mth old daughters shoe size....and can only just manage to walk and chew gum,(at the same time), and are probably only slightly above McDonalds employees in the Human evolution scale,(McD's workers scoring just above Chimps), so the sight of a camera or camera phone scares the holy shit outta them. Thats why it's Illegal.
Cyberpunk:- alienated loner who lives on the edge of society in generally dystopic future where daily life is impacted by rapid technological change, an ubiquitous datasphere of computerized information, and invasive modification of the human body.....Hmmmmm

looks like they may right this time,
http://www.sirimo.co...phersRights.pdf
its illegal to take a photo of a copyrighted item, as the artwork is copyrighted, that makes it technically a no-no.... Also according to the article, anyone can take photos in a public place, or a business, but the owner has the legal right to stop them taking photo's and to ask them to leave...
Dont see why they should care though, its not like you are causing them any problems.....

Well it's illegal in more than one way tbh.
I'm not sure if the law is the same in the UK as it is here in America, but I would presume so.
I never realised it was illegal until a couple of years back, however I soon found out it was and why it was.
My wife and I and her friend went to a local store called Heritages, it's a small food mart local to us..
Anyways, we go in and start taking pics of us doing stupid things with stupid items, for example we have a brand of clingfilm called 'Glad'.
Im not sure if they make Glad in the UK, anyways as we were f*****g around generally having a laugh the store manager came over and demanded the film out of the camera.
I lept up and said to him "What the hell? its not even a film camera" he then demanded the media inside it, at which point I told him to f*** himself and we left.
Now, pretty jaded at this I decided to do some research within the company I worked for at the time, and it appears that not only is it illegal to take pictures of items within a business due to copyright reasons it is also illegal to take pictures of any business without permission.
The reason is quite simple, they dont want you either using the pics against them or stealing their ideas.
Quite logical really...
So a few months later we get a few young #@#@#@#s in my store, with a video camera f*****g around.
I told them to leave, but stopped short of being an asswipe and demanding the tape
Im sure they had a good laugh at me when they got home

he could have thought you were looking for where cameras were positioned to see if there were any blind spots for rodding the machines. the same for plugs etc.
