Ok, the reason you cannot take a photo in an arcade is this -: Customer confidentiality. Some gamblers may, for whatever reason, not want others to know they have been gambling. A picture would give this away, should it get into the wrong hands.
So, it is NOT illegal to take a picture, it is company policy.
You won't find a single casino in the U.K. that will let you take a photo, for the same reason.

read my previous post....
Policy is not the main reason, its up to the owner if they feel like banning you. Plus it is illegal to photograph some items, read the post and the link.....

corals dont like people taking pictures also, as said, simply to protect the clients who bet there.

Theres 2 ways around this. Quite simple if you think about it.
1. Take your partner, or one of your kids if you have some and get them to stand near the machine you need a pic of. That way, the arcade owner will think you're taking their pic but unknown to them, they are the decoy. I used to use this method. Arcade owners won't want to be seen to be throwing out a nice loving family.
2. I've got a digital camera that has a x10 optical zoom. What this means is that you can take pictures without blatently looking like you're photographing machines. After all, taking pics of machines with a standard camera, you have to be right in front of the machine to get a good pic. With a nice optical zoom, you can even take the odd pics of a decent quality from outside the arcade if the machines are facing outwards.

I have a 10x optical zoom one [Kodak DX6490], but find that I get far too much shake - I think I'll take a little tripod next time

Just walk in with a clip board, wearing a suit, walk around making fake notes, then take photos whilst scribbling furiously... If asked, say you are from the gaming board investigating a complaint......

I've only been chucked out for pic taking once. The lady asked what I was doing, I said collecting fruiit machine images to create desktop wall paper. She said you can't do that in here, I said, bye then
I used to ask the owners permission, i'd say 8/10 they be ok with you if you ask 1st. Took and uploaded 1000+ images to the repo over 3 years getting chucked out 1 time and told no to pics from 3 places.
I went to Mablethorpe, loads of classic machines there. Got the jackpot up on each one I wanted a pic for and then took it My back up plan was "taking a pic of the jackpot" but was never asked and took 300 that day.
