Hi,
Can anyone help me out.
I have "Who Wants To Be A Legionaire" Fruity and recently it went off and when it came back on it was not working.
After a bit of playing around and putting in the £25/jp chips i noticed that it now says "No Sound error 93" and will not boot any thurther.
If i put the £15/jp chips back in all i get is a dead machine.
With the £25/jp chips in and the sound chips out it will still display the sound error, therefore i am guessing that whatever happened has somehow cleared the eproms.
Now i am willing to buy a programmer to re-program the chips but where can i get the sound software from ?
Of if anyone has the sound chips what price are we talking.
Also if i ws to ask Bell Fruit for the sound software whats the chance that they would give it to me, or how much would they most likely charge for new sound chips/eproms.
Kind Regards,
Coffee23.

Can anyone help me out..
I'd be surprised if it was a problem with the EPROMs themselves. They're pretty robust unless you insert them backwards, in which case you will destroy them instead of erasing them. Much more likely that it's a problem with the game card (the sound chip is on the game card). Try someone like www.herondata.co.uk for a replacement.

They should be able to e-mail you the software FOC.

www.herondata.co.uk[/url'] for a replacement.
What makes me think the sound EPROMs are erased is due to when i insert the £15/jp EPROMs the machine will do nothing at all (apart from reset led flashing) yet when i insert the £25/jp EPROMs it will initialise (sp).
The £15/jp and the Sound EPROMs was in it when it decided to die on me.
They should be able to e-mail you the software FOC.
Hope i don't sound to stupid but whats "FOC" stand for ?
Also Thanks for your reply.

It's possible the EPROMs were damaged but it's not possible to erase them in this way. They can only be erased by using ultra-violet light. You will almost certanly not be able to reprogramme them once damaged. You could buy some new EPROMs and programme the software onto them but they are quite expensive to buy in small quantities (about £10 each per EPROM). But you have to consider that something caused them to be damaged in the first place and that puts us back at the game card again.

FOC = Free Of Charge.

Hi,
No, sound prom 1 on socket 1 on the game card and prom 2 in on socket 2.
Wish it was that easy

I think he meant the orientation of the EPROM. If you look at the chip there is a little notch at one end of it. The socket also has the notch. When you insert the EPROM the notches must be aligned if they're not the EPROM will die a horrible death.

Hi,
I have found my datapak that i used to have on a different machine and i put it in WWTBAL and turned it on but with the front (top) door open and it bypassed the sound check and went into free play (wheyyyyyyyyy), it had no sound but i dont mind at the moment (while i try to get hold of new sound proms) so long as i can play, then my daughter came up to watch me playing and leaned on the door and made the machine reset itself (my fault as i did not move the locking bar over to stop the door closing). Anyways now i cant seem to get it to do it again, is there anyone that knows what i done (cant remember to save me life) so i can get it running again ?
Kind Regards,

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a way i can bypass the sound check so that it will start up.
I don't mind no sound whilst i am trying to source the sound proms (bell fruit are no good).
Thanks in advance.
