I love doing the cosmetic finishing touches to the lamps and reels, I spend way too many hours in photoshop tweaking these things.

I'm calling it for today, but updates not shown since my last screenshot;
- Finished all board squares apart from the 3 purple squares (two "Jimbo and one "PAYDAY Homer").
- Donuts have been placed on the bottom section.
- "Fox" copyright text added in the top area.
- Some drop-shadows adjusted.
- "D'OH" Speech Bubbles added (though I want to redo them in a lighter weight).
Tomorrow I'll hopefully be doing the "Homer" that's drinking from the tap in the bottom section.
I still haven't done the faces on the "Cash" or "Feature" trails
or the power plant scene from the "Jackpot" area in the center.
Frankly I know they'll be tedious so I've been avoiding them like the plague.
Still have a lot to do but getting very close now!

Shame there were no glass scans available as that would have saved a huge amount of work and time, though there is nothing like getting into the zone when using photoshop. I find listening to tunes really kicks my creative thought processes into gear. If I don't have any music playing I find it difficult to get absorbed.

Scans would have been great!
But one benefit of finishing this is having a fully editable version of the artwork I guess, heh.
And I totally agree, I tend to have something playing in the background or on one of my additional monitors to distract me from the tedium!

Indeed and it's just nice to get into little projects like this to keep the skills fresh and even learn newer ways to work.
Glass scans of this should be easy to obtain but it's not always as simple as that. I imagine these are fairly collectable so maybe not many get stripped down and scrapped. Then it can be an hassle to get glass scanned in, especially on an A4.
Looking forward to the final DX, looks lovely and crisp.

I have just found this and I have to say its amazing the work you have put into this is unreal I started a course in Photoshop a few years ago but family events got in the way and I had to give it up
Seeing this shows me what I've missed out on and I may have to sign myself up on one ASAP I really can't wait to see this grow and grow

Deeply impressive stuff this! Will you be redrawing the reel symbols too?
Watch out! There's a SIG thief about...

Yes mate - he thinks you're somebody else who there was "conflict" with who also loved Simpsons !
No mate, don't worry.
This is great work BTW - you have a serious set of skills here.
Thank you :-)!

I've thought a lot about this but I'm still undecided.
The dice reel on the game board (not sure if there's a more correct term for this?)
will definitely be remade from scratch as the numbers use one of the fonts the main graphics use,
so that one's a super easy one to do.
As for the fruit reels however, I don't really have any good quality sources for all of them and unlike
the main graphics, they use a lot of shading, highlights and gradients, so without good sources it'd be hard to remake accurately.
If anyone who owns a Homer's Meltdown machine wants to contribute some high quality images shot straight-on of the reel symbols, I'd be much obliged!
I'd either clean them up and use those or use them as a base for remaking.

I can see what I can do tomorrow when it is not dark. Will be able to take a good image of every reel symbol if that helps and you can either use it or redraw as you see fit.

Thanks guys , I'm sure all of this will come in handy!
I've blown Homer up. His mouth area is going to be fun to copy...
WISH ME LUCK FOLKS!

Hurrah! He is done!
I have made a couple of small corrections to the artwork again, ala Smithers.
You can't see it super clearly in this particular image, but there are a set of lines between Homer's fingers on the hand that is grabbing the pump.
These lines are supposed to be the tail end of the handle that he's holding, but whoeever originally colored this in obviously couldn't tell and left it blank. I've corrected it, but it's so small it's almost invisible really.
I've also copied the beer color established in the stein to the liquid coming from the tap, as only the foam is supposed to be white.
There's also a foam drip on the original machine that wasn't colored at all, thus taking on the bar color instead.
I've corrected this by coloring it in white.

you certainly suffer from OCD and on this occasion I/WE are glad you do have this condition, certainly an eye for detail, how do you get the outline so accurate.
The more I do today, The less I do tomorrow.

Haha! My wife would probably argue that it extends beyond this project, but thanks bud!
I just zoom out and squint my eyes, or compare it to photos of the machine to see if what I think I'm seeing is what I'm seeing.

Thank you!
I got a few more things done today. I can't remember everything, but among them were the
Duff logo and pouring background beer for this section:
And both "Jimbo" squares:
Which means that there's literally only one square left to do (Homer's PAYDAY)!
I still have a ton of other stuff to finish, but the main game board itself is almost done!

Hi Benjamoose that some really neat work going there,as iv said before its good to have someone like yourself onboard maybe sometime in the future you could maybe share some tips with the software you use maybe do a video,as i know some of the layout creators would appreciate it.
Keep up the good work!
Dave
