Cool. What type of lamping effects are you going to use? Will it be a darker layout, a lighter layout? Any special ideas of how to make the lamping really pop?

Lol Geddy. Sadly the member might not realise that youre just taking the piss.
On this occasion I actually was being genuine. Would be nice to see after all this effort of redrawing it all to have something really special in the lamping department. Then we can introduce Ben to BAF and the true mysterious meaning

I remember being the first person to release a BAF. Looking back at my darkest ever layout which was Great Escape, I received a lot of criticism. Since then I think there have been some even darker layouts released (not by me).
Maybe in another thread we could find the ultimate BAF layout.

I have literally no idea what you guys are talking about .
Though I do have a theory on what I think BAF stands for though based on the comments, heh!
Sorry for the lack of updates over the last few days.
I was so close to finishing the bulk of the work that I was hoping to finish off the faces in the bottom-left corner (the part where it advises you to get 3 characters to play) and to then post it all in one big update, but I've been somewhat busy over the last day or so and thus haven't had the time!
So here is what I did achieve:
Mapping out the clouds.
My finished clouds on my actual project file.
And finally I managed to do the Homer images in the top-left!
If anyone has the time or resources to capture some good quality photos of the reel symbols that'd be great!
I know some offered to do it before, but I'm now literally at the point where it's one of the last things needed for the bottom of the main layout.
The best way to take pictures of the reels (if possible) would be outside in clear sunlight, as it provides relatively neutral lighting vs. the orange hues of indoor lighting.
Indoor lighting also tends to trigger "low light" settings on cameras, which tends to introduce a lot if grain on the picture.
But yeah, other than that, just shooting in-focus and as straight-on as possible would be awesome.
If this is a big ask then apologies and I'll of course be grateful for whatever you guys can provide in decent resolution instead !

Honestly those are brilliant!
The only thing really is that the lamps behind the reels are giving the close-up shots a heavy orange hue.
In that respect the best shots of the bunch are the wide shots showing all three reels at once since they have less color cast and have less-lit versions directly underneath.
Other than that these tick a lot of boxes! The resolution looks great and usable, they're very straight-on so wouldn't need much correcting for skew and whatnot.
I've never had the pleasure of owning my own machine so I'm not familiar with the restrictions on what you can and can't do with the machine open.
Is possible to take photos without the reel lights on or is it something tied to unlocking/opening it?
If not I'll totally find a way to use these ones! Thanks a bunch Mazza .

If you can get decent hi res shots of the reel symbols you may as well not re create them, they seem a little more complex to recreate, shading etc compared to the main simpsons artwork. It will be, at the very least, a lot more time consuming to get a perfect replication I expect.

Indeed! That's why I had such high standards in wanting high-resolution, no color-cast and straight-on images. Because I can white balance them, fix their proportions, mask them out then use them directly .
The reel symbols have a lot of finicky shading and wouldn't look good (or at least accurate enough) if I recreated them, so I had no intention of doing so (if I could help it!).
If I did end redrawing them though, Mazza's images would have been just fine for redrawing combined with my other resources for color matching.

So I just went through and cropped all of the images you sent Johnny.
I've compiled a list of ones we have and ones we don't based on exports of the reel .bmp files from the "Homer's Meltdown Classic" layout.
The highlighted symbols next to the "X" are the ones missing and the darkened symbols next to the "tick" are ones you've covered in the files you've sent.
I tried to group related symbols together and delete duplicates in the above image to make it easy and more understandable on the eyes, so please let me know if any of you see a missing "unique" symbol (either a graphic not shown at all or one that has a unique face in the corner that I haven't covered).
The files shown in the above image are the files you've sent me after I cropped and labeled them.
I'm posting it here as another resource to see if there's anything I've missed.
Beyond the cropping, they haven't been edited at all from the source files, as I'm just collating at the moment.

After doing some editing on the symbols (perspective and such). I was about to cut out the "Jackpot" symbol for use on the main machine layout, then I noticed that the versions used on the actually machine don't seem to use the extra outlines/shadows outside of the transparent outline running around the symbol.
Which frankly made cutting a LOT more finicky.
Here's the symbol thus far:

The symbols at the bottom are now complete thanks to the above!
STILL TODO ON THE MAIN LAYOUT:
1. Fill in these text boxes.
2. Do the "SUPER JACKPOT" graphics (I'm really not looking forward to this).
3. Add the "MAYGAY" embossed logo to this area.
4. Redraw the faces in these circles.
5. Remake the Duff cans.
After I do these things I think the main layout will be complete!
Then the next big project will be preparing another set of reel symbols from Johnny's files, using fonts to create replicas of the "dice" reel and making a fancy "lit" version of the overall layout.
Edit: I almost forgot! I also have to do the arrows for Homer's trail for the £5 variation.

So I decided (because I clearly hate myself) that rather than saving the obnoxiously detailed "Super Jackpot" graphics until last (as originally planned), that I would tackle it first as the next objective.
That way, comparatively speaking, The rest would seem like a breeze.
It took me all night on and off, but:
You probably can't tell, but I also used it as an opportunity to remake the actual text too. Before it was too thin and wasn't 100% in the right place/alignment with the original.
