Why do we have to have locked Threads / Posts a la the Ebay Dvd Discussion thread below?
http://www.fruit-emu...for-sale/page-8
Seems everytime a debate or such comes along the post becomes locked, temporarily or not.
Why? What concerns have been raised? Who has raised concerns? Why can they not raise concerns on the actual thread?
It seems like a nanny site where someone complains and threads get locked down, maybe it is just me that sees this.

It goes likes this, mods and other "leaders" of this forum can hound innocents calling them AT and such.
If others say anything that is slightly upsetting towards them - out come the lock button.
People are protected here on this site. If the chat in the other thread was being championed by mods, then it would be allowed to continue.
I might be adding 2 + 2 and getting 5 and if I am, I am wrong and sorry. But the conversation took an interseting turn - I have no idea of the real detals behind it and then - blam - must protect people - let's lock this.

Sorry to hear you are currently suffering from ill health Alex, i hope you have a speedy recovery from you ailment.
I wish you well and hope to hear from you soon.
Could any mods make themselves known, hopefully this way the DVD discussion can and will continue instead of all threads that question this being locked.
Thank you.

I too am sorry for Alex's situition and wish him very well, that is the most important thing.
What this site needs actually is some unbiased mods and people that are neturals that don't have history.
It really is like turkeys voting for christmas here.
So - with all those mods, why can't the eBay thread be opened please ?

I agree Reg, it is not the first time i have noticed threads locked when certain things, names or actions have been mentioned.
Seems strange this happens.
The first Ben thread got probably closed by this I sent to Alex with no reply...
Mate,
Not asking you to do anything about it - but it's a little embarrasing the way a new member is being stalked here by others claiming him to be somebody else.
http://www.fruit-emu...view=getnewpost
How does the forum grow when they do this if there is something they're not happy with and they so much want this to be Andy ?
Cheers.
...what is not known fully is a whole load of shit and false comments were posted about this incident in a facebook group - not that I care - but again, turkeys voting for christmas and I think in this instance, they had the rug pulled. At least they're not bullying Ben now outside a facebook group.
Yet - the moment anything is said about a mod, then good lord - shut the gates - bring the bridges up.
The mods from DADsFME simply bring their politics here and are allowed to say and do what they want, this may as well be DADsFME when it comes to the political shit as this site is an extension of DADsFME as you have the same moderators bar a couple of extras running both with the same agenda. These are not netural unbiased moderators.
If shit turns against a select group of people, the hidden moderators forum will light up with excitment and then doors closed. If this was a thead against me, you or anyone outside the political circle here - f*** - they'd let it run and run and run...
...edit to add...
...I too am not unbiased - but hey I only control my site.
...DADsFME people are not unbiased - they control that site and a public facing forum.
This site needs netural mods that are friends of no sides of the coin that can made a sensible choice with no baggage.

In case memories are short, the current moderators were, at my insistence, voted for openly and democratically by the regular members of the forum.I too am sorry for Alex's situition and wish him very well, that is the most important thing.

For me to make a decision unilaterally to remove any of them without extremely good and very well evidenced reason would be fundamentally wrong and an affront to those of you who chose to have them appointed in the first place.
Im not clear where the idea has come from that threads are locked on a regular basis, as Ive tended to avoid doing so ever since the last troubles.
Addition:
I have to add that Ive no idea what youre talking about with regard to a Facebook page. Ive not publicly speculated about the member mentioned above, and I have no knowledge of others doing so. I would not consider it appropriate or professional.

Wasn't around for the vote ( IE active ) - but you let them pull your strings and you are their puppet.
Have a new vote in 2018. Fresh set of mods where older mods can't apply for 1 year.

Sorry to be argumentative but two or three threads have been locked today at least.
Is there a need for this?
Debate is healthy, most of us are trying to get to the bottom of who is selling "our" creations.
If things get said and some don't like it, well what can I say other than what are they hiding? Debate brings things out of the woodwork.
People jump conclusions, these are either proved or disproved on these threads.
This is why I cannot get around why they are locked just because they may or may not concern possible moderators. ??
Can only agree with Reg again.
Revote for mods / admin.
A new set doesn't harm regularly, lots of new active guys and girls here.
Doesn't harm does it?

Unfair in my opinion, as I've always strived to do the best for FME and IMHO so have the rest of the staff at DADsFME.
If it helps the cause I'm quite willing to step down and let someone else take my place.
Happy?
[EDIT] Oh yeah, just to let you know I've never locked a thread here as I see it as pointless.

Exactly what do you know about it when you weren’t around at the time?
You can’t object to a democratic process just because you don’t agree with the result - that sort of thing does not generally end well.

I am not talking about the process that I wasn't around for at the time - here is your case in point...
The Ben thread, where they claim he was AT. I don't know Ben but a simple check on a couple of links proves not. DADsFME / Facebook Group reckon he is AT.
DADsFME moderators who are here do nothing to stop the hounding and people calling him out to be AT with their little winks, smilies and references to old names AT used to use.
DAD above says...

...where was he when Ben was being hassled from the group that has the same views form his site ?
That is not the best for FME, oh and I think another of the moderators was also on that campaign trail about it.
Now I see in a thread you locked, something dodgy was said about a moderator here - boom - thread locked and protection for your moderator. I don't care if what was said was true or not BTW, that is not my fight.
Your politics on here are one rule for those in the moderation circle and one rule for us plebs.

Uhh why the need for a new vote for mods/admin.
Remember the last time we did this, I certainly do and you all don't want to go back to those days!
Afaik the mods/admins now Do a fair job and are open in what they do.
But if members insist in a vote then maybe a poll should be put in place to decide whether the members here need to re-elect the staff.
The way this sites been the last few days due to a member opening the eBay topic I can see a general decline in friendliness again and back to the dark days of a few years back, it doesn't have to be this way, I have resect for this site and it's members and it really pee's me off seeing the good that's built up being torn back down!
So common guys we've a new'ish emulator with a raft of updates in a matter of days/weeks let's put all this shit behind us and enjoy what we've got once more.
Peace and love in Fme!!
To aAmusement's I wish you well and hope you have a speedy recovery!!

The eBay thread was actually getting somewhere by the looks of things and then the moment a moderators name was brought into question, the protection came down and it was locked - "thou shall not talk about this moderator".
The same group of moderators that are allowed to pursue a member and accuse him of being somebody else.
A moderator reset is needed on a yearly basis with moderators who were past mods cannot apply.
You would be a good mod - you should go for it.
