I'll kick this off with one of my very first layouts I did (made 3 times so far lol) and it could do with another update if decent art could be found.
It's double 9's a shit effort from myself but it was my 3rd layout back in 2012

Whats freezer bag reels?? An eye bleeder for me is my own first crazy fruits layout, bright as F"£*
don't forget pooks famous phrase for my mini layouts "V-Tech" layouts

Well this is the darkest layout I've created.... Actually it's probably not but it was deemed just too dark for some.
I did release a lighter version because I aim to please, but looking back at it, it wasn't that dark by some of today's standards.
This was created from over possibly 100 small pics back in Jan 2003 ....wow 14 years old... the cab was drawn from scratch as was the buttons. I think if this layout was released today it would still be an excellent DX....

...If I could un-release a layout.... it would be this total abortion, Big Mistake by MDM. I really don't know what I was thinking.
I had way too much time on my hands around this time and I should have spent more time doing something else instead of creating this mute-monster. Again a machine I don't even like that much for real.

Back at the time, I remember not liking the darker version of the layout, but as Geddy says, it could have been the crt/tft screens, because the darker version doesn't seem all that dark now.
As for the machine, well, The Great Escape, is a classic fruit machine, that is one of those machines, you can normally remember at least one place/pub/arcade you played it in, in my case the pub attached to Reading Station.
IMO, though, like Epoch tech, The Simpsons, not a great machine, I much prefer m1a machines such as Noels House Party, Gladiators & Cluedo. Without the emulator, I would never have guessed that Manhattan Skylines and this are the same tech. I remember playing both machines and thinking back, I'm sure I was in my early 20's for Manhattan and late 20's for Great Escape. Of course The Great Escape, could easily have been built on Epoch, so possibly the last ever M1a machine.

One of the best DX's ever.
I always preferred the darker one, as I let you know often
