Some with moderator rights can upload a layout and attach any username to it. Thats what happened here, it seems, however they unfortunately edited a layout and then re-uploaded it with the wrong username. Apparently they were uploading new ROMS, Im still trying to establish exactly why.

Edit: at this point, until I can properly get to the bottom of this, I have unapproved the file.

Just to reiterate and to reassure you BARXFAN, your account has not been accessed, hacked or compromised in any way.

So is this just a moderator mess-up, or something more sinister going on? 

 

And is this the same thing that happened with one of my layouts recently?  I'm talking about the Super Each Way Shuffle DX I did that got modded, then uploaded a while ago by frig.

 

I know frig has been around FME for a while, and it would have been completely out-of-character for someone like him to have done that; so it looks, to me, like the two things are the same.  Probably.

Presumably it was uploaded by one of the Moderators here, hence the secrecy.

As I said, some of the arrangements here PREDATE MY TENURE and my well publicised efforts to make the actual moderation team completely transparent.

Yes, some members do have legacy rights to certain limited moderation tasks, which in most cases they do in order to perform useful tasks on the site.
Sometimes they get it wrong or make human mistakes, but they still have my support.

Running this place is getting very wearing lately...

Fair enough, I understand that and I get that bit...

 

but I'm sure that even those you might suspect would do such a thing wouldn't do such a thing, especially, as people may be thinking, in such an underhanded way. I was a moderator here and I know that we could never access the main system boards. I know Alex would never dream of doing such a thing either.

 

Yes, it all seems 'weird', but I know Alex as a friend and would vouch with and for him 100%. I know the moderators cannot access the system because it is for Administration only, which only leaves a genuine mixupin the release of the ROM under the layouts system...

 

There really can't be anything sinister with that, as difficult and baffling as the facts are.

What Frig does is baffling to me, in fact Frig very nearly got banned after that episode. They still might.

Not trying to play the victim here, but do you intend to continue to troll someone with cancer? If so I’ll just pack all this up now and shut the place down and liquidate the company. Because I really have had enough now.

Saying your gonna fold the site is a bit of a kick in the teeth for members who have supported the site via cash and not to mention the 100's of layouts that have been posted here to attract people here in the first place.

I can understand with your current situ that you can't be arsed with the hassle,it just seems any thread can turn in to a bitch fest for no reason,proberbly the reason i havent touched mfme since november.

Also i wish you all the best health wise.

I've not got a clue either and it was not me who uploaded or changed anything... so I'm at a bit of a loss as to what the chuff is going on here about from something had changed but not sure by who..

Thank you Anthony, I do appreciate it. It’s members like you and other Layout creators who do still upload here, along with those who have supported the site, which keeps things going at this time. Nothing else. I have no love for any of it. I’ve never used MFME5+ and I doubt I ever will.

This is a guess, probably the concept roms were leaked. I, however, still have the layout as I thought it was 100% genuine. Should I scan for Trojans etc to see what happens? I just got a new PC so I really hope I haven't just thrown another one in the rubbish bin lol. I really enjoyed playing it too, got wink nudges and the lot. Can someone please shed some lite and PM me or respond ASAP please? If my system's at risk, I really need to know. I don't understand ROM security etc and how it works as I don't intend to own a fruity.

It is 100% genuine, the roms them had some security on them which would prevent them from running on the emulator. But thanks to Geddy providing some info and Wizards coding skill, the roms will now run in the emulator, as per this from Wizard over at Dadsfme  "No but they do have a simple form of security that has been addressed in the latest MFME. Thanks to Geddy for the info :-)"

 

As for the electrocoin roms "Genuine electrocoin roms need a security dongle to run."

I imagine what has happened is:

 

Someone who has moderator privileges for the downloads has amended & uploaded said layout, during the upload has credited the original author and that in turn created the new thread automatically as per the way the downloads are set up.

The layout was removed from the downloads, case closed in my eyes.
I search the downloads quite often and came across various admins/mods from the past whom had submitted various layouts but when you look at the screenshots they're from various other members.
Now I mentioned this ages back that those layouts should've been amended with say for an example?

That way every layout would have their rightful creator name with the download.

Anyways back to this single Classic layout in its simplistic form.
It's one layout that slipped through the net, but it was catch and thrown back into the deep void of cyberspace

Admin/aAmusement's did good, do we really need to upset the apple cart now it's full for the sake of one simple mistake.
If I had more time instead of creating layouts then I would step forward and help sort out various sections of this site
i.e downloads,
galleries,
a new resource section maybe.

...A simple explanation from the uploader would have been the easiest thing to do.   Just an easy mistake but it looked worse because the original creator thought he'd had his account hacked, so rightfully reported it.
