Not necessarily, you could still have side art as this can be cut down if the downloader requires it too.
Although sideart is dying off, it's still nice to see the odd layout or three with it still on.

It's all down to the original author. I personally don't use excessive side art and keep it in a portrait shaped layout so everyone can play it without having to mess around cropping the side art out. It can be a bit fiddly to do this on a touchscreen tablet without a keyboard or mouse.

Been working on these on an off,these are pic's of my second viva espana,this is the re glass version,which uses very good software.Will be using the roms from my machine which i got dumped a couple of years back. These are no were near finished,i keep taking more pics and changing bits.Your right these oldies deffo deserve a second turn out.

 

I know another version of this thread appeared about layout updates etc - but as you posted this here, I'd go for this one in answer to something I would love to see.
