yeah there are different compensators for the topbox and reel wins. knew someone who worked where a partytime was sited and he would disconnect one of the slaves for a week then reconnect it after close and play out a weeks worth of saved up tops

anybody else smell that?

I've played on a unit that had been disconnected for a time, it went mental with top boards.  Was a 10p £5 version, think I got about 5 boards in quick succession, one paying over £30.

in short (and this is in general) a unit/terminal will play as per usual until it triggers a top box feature. if it searches and cannot find the topbox/slave, then it will continue the wins via the reels OR it simply doesnt initialise at all.

I've had it on a Party Games too, you can tell when the top box isn't working or connected as you will get a massive pause.   I've played loads of units where for some reason the top box isn't operating and have never had the feature run out on the main reels.   Back in the day I'm sure I heard that you could somehow stop other units going up.   I noticed on newer versions there is a 'queue' system, on Party Games at least, this wasn't always the case.

Yeah thats normally the case, but on party times in certain circumstances it will cause the machine to think its still connected, hence no comms to master message but will not go up. This has been a known issue, and also as others have said they go off there tits when its put back right.

For obvious reasons im not going to explain the circumstances of how it happens, as it has been exploited on occasion by arcade staff / owners.

Not something I would personally have done as you are basically robbing the people that can't get onto the board.  It's a slimy trick for sure.

lol smell all the bullshit you like but its completely true

will run as normal, the only observable difference being as jamesy4 correctly states is the topbox will continue the attract sequence even after inserting money

How did the original post turn out? Was any money returned? Have lessons been learned? Was there any laughing and scoffing? Has the Arcade been closed due to showing wrong % payouts?

There doesn't seem to be any progress report......

I've seen an Oxo Super reels take £190 for a board, so it's possible it could have done a massive board in between and was just caught wrong, these can be very nasty machines....   caught right they can go empty from a top board feature.

I played a party time once that apparently wasn't connected to the top box.  The engineer knew about it but said the machine compensates for this by playing a better game on the main reels, therefore keeping its percentage.  Didn't seem that way to me though!!

I won't go into details but I basically played an emulated unit that couldn't go up top for a few hundred quid.  I then played it normally and it was hot.  Top board nearly every win, multiple repeats.

I think it would have been connected to be fair.   £200 of credits with a loss of £100 wouldn't guarantee a top board on one of these in a nasty mood.    Hope you get lucky.
