I got disco inferno off ebay and the alarm was going off when i switched it on, so I disconected the door switches. This resolved this problem but the hopper is not working and when you press the start button you get 50 free credits. I can't get hold of the seller as he must have disconected the hopper. Can anyone tell me how to reconect it? please
Thanks Colin

first of all you will be getting the 50 free credits when you press the start button because you have disconnected the door switches.

reconnect the switches (i hope you remembered which lead went where!!!)and let us know what alarm message you get on the display and we'll take it from there.

i beleive this is the bellfruit smiley cabinet cabinet so this error will probably be exactly what you have said that the hopper is disconnected.

first of all on the mpu(rectangle board about the size of a laptop on the back of the cabinet)take the cover of if it has one and just check to see if all the plugs are plugged in.
the hopper connector should be marked as payslides on the mpu so check to make sure this is plugged in.
if it is plugged in then the next thing to do is check to see if the paytray which the hopper is situated is actually plugged in to the connecetor behind it.
the paytray just slides back and forward out of the quick release connector.

the next thing would be to check the actual hopper.
if its an azkoyen hopper there should be a white plug plugged in somewhere on the hopper.
if its a coin controls hopper then it may be disconnected inside the hopper but i wouldn't have thought that would be the case.

see how you get on then let us know.

Hi Baz
The only one on the board I can find is payout which is connected, where the coins go in there is a big clump of green wires which are connected (towards the front) an on the left hand side there is more wires with conector (about 6) which is connected, mainley green, also 1 more connector block (red wire). This looks that it is just connecting a couple of the terminals toghether. There is also a loose connector block with pinkish wire on, simular to the red one which is just hanging.
The hopper is called compact hopper, with a coin controlls sticker on it and has a rocker switch by the front. Cheers

ok
the it looks like the coin mech is plugged in ok.

can you remove the paytray on which the hopper is sitting on??
you will have to open the door with the 2 locks on it so the tray can slide out.

this paytray might not be plugged in properly.

the rocker switch is only used when you are filling the hopper up to the maximum £125 of coins.

Looking at the paytray from the side of the hopper, there are 2 connectors, the one on the left is black with orange/black wire. The one on the right of the hopper is white with orange/blue wire. Looking from the far end which has a connector block on the right which when pushed in goes into the back of the cabinet.

In the middle there is another board with 3 connector blocks pushed into, then looking back into the casing there is 2 connector blocks not connected into anything one has six wires, the other has 2 wires, they are both white connector blocks.

right

it sounds like everything is plugged in.
the connectors that are not plugged are the additionall connectors if you want to add a 20p hopper so i wouldn't worry about that.

you may well have a faulty hopper or a coin actually jammed inside the hopper.

tbh its quite difficult without actually seeing the machine to know exactly what is wrong.

have a look in yellow pages for a local fruit machine company and they will have a look for you(they should come to your house).
if its a decent company they wont charge much £10-20 if they dont use any parts.
