I was playing this machine the other day when it went a little funny on me... (see pic) The LCD display started displaying seemingly random letters, although the rest of the machine seemed to be working, although getting skill stop Bonus' was infuriating seeing as I couldn't see what I was choosing!!
When I ran out of credits, it seemed to go back to normal. I wondered if there was some kind of dodgy play going on, as it seemed extremely dead, I put over £150 in and everytime I got the top feature it would only give £10 and then stop! (Which I thought was odd for a "£25 jackpot" machine)
Any ideas what was going on?

nah we have had that with some red gaming machines and its just poor programming.
all red gaming machines should be rechipped by now and i hope it sorts this technical fault.
doesn't make any difference to the gameplay apart from the mumbo jumbo on the alpha display.

First time I played a Red X, when they first came out, I hated it [I staked about a fiver].
After getting used to them though, I think they released some excellent machines. Not sure about the recent stuff, I put £40 in one once and only got 1 feature entry, which blew me out on the second gamble. Mind you, that might have been after someone used an emptier on it

Legal Tender is usually very good to me, but this one just seemed totally dead. Wondered if there was an emptier about and that was why, obviously not, just caught it in a bad mood.

They had Thats Magic in a local, no note mech though
Anyway, the landlord left it in the car park. Wasn't actually trying to payout £1 coins when it broke, it was paying out say £13 of a £30 bank and then just saying IOU without trying the hopper. 4 Callouts over the Mayday holiday and still not sorted.
I noticed when it was turned on, it was giving lines of gibberish as well, but these went when you inserted credits.
Seemed a little weird the way it was IOUing, mind you, sure it got nice and wet outside which made up for it
Other 'odd' behaviour I've seen includes :
Cash Attack [Super Charged clone type thing], which while playing changed the Alpha from
0.00 bank 0.00 credit, to
0.00 LEFT 0.00000 or something similar.
Also had a BFM Jackpot Junction going from
0.00 bank 0.00 credit to
00.00 00.00 00.00 00.00 which was pretty odd

I seem to remember Pie Factory used to go a bit funny on the Alpha when you did the old trick, can't remember exactly how that went, and I never mastered it as I could only ever get £50 off it, not the supposed £75 that the trick should have gone for!!

my pie factory has a problem with the code somewhere, the alpha occasionally does not clear fully, and odd characters are left at the end. It clears up after a while, cant recall offhand exactly how to duplicate it but will keep an eye out for it out of interest.

interesting what you say about pie factory. i was doing it in leam shipleys, and the alpha was just displaying rubbish. this was inconvenient only when on the red board as the ? were all skill and you had to hope you didn't hit lose!
however, when i had done it and had the pots, the alpha came back to normal, and displayed the bank as it should. very odd, and i only saw it once.
electrocoins often display '13' in the bank and flash up hp when playing. it doesn't seem to affect the play (i.e, reset the ram) and clears when you collect or get a win.
what is this baz? why do they do it?

its just a mistake in the code but they dont deem it important enought to rewrite a new program.

This machine imho is absolutley $hit... ive played them in several places and every1 has been dodgy... quick kills... dodgy alpha displays... numbers always out of sync. ive never had problems with any other red gaming machines and i am actually quite fond of them
