My fella has just bought something off ebay from the US and the sell only accepts bidpay, is it safe, would you trust it. Theirs £250 at stake.
Well I jumped into the river
Too many times to make it home
I'm out here on my own, an drifting all alone
If it doesn't show give it time
To read between the lines

Did you look at this https://www.bidpay.com/HowItWorks.asp

I've heard of it before, but have never used it so I can't say if its good or bad but it certainly looks like an unusual way to pay.

Same here, heard of, but never used it.

If your worried, you could ask if they accept US dollar cash..

If they do ask the seller how many dollars they need (use www.xe.com to confirm they are not taking the mickey and asking for way to much).
Go to a main post office, get the dollars (they exchange money for free at the post office), send them either by airsure or international signed for, ask for extra compensation (make sure you get enough compensation on it to cover the full amount of the cash, in case it goes missing in the post)

Looks to be a similar system to PayPal, which I have used extensively and had no problems. You might want to contact the seller and ask if they accept PayPal as this would be a safer method, as they have a UK dedicated site (www.paypal.co.uk). This would give you comeback if things went wrong. It is worth bearing in mind that paying by either method will not guarantee that you will receive the goods - that is down to you and the seller. If you look at the seller's feedback rating on eBay, this will give you a fair idea as to whether the seller is genuine or not. The best thing to bear in mind is that PayPal (or bidpay) are just payment processors like the companies who run the PDQ machines in real shops.
