so ive been using mfme for just over 6 months, as a total novice I basically had to self teach myself how to set everything up which was an absolute ball ache made worse by the fact that I didn't know how to use a PC( the last computer I used was an Amstrad cpc back in 88) anyway I was hoping somebody here could help me do something, I can load nearly any game on any emu except for the older ones were the ROMS are separate, ime sure you have to merge the roms with the layout somehow but how?? any chance one of you could give me a very detailed step by step walk through on what to do and what to click and were.. TIA

hi and welcome to the site

now i hope i get this right lol

when you download games/layouts most downloads will come already packed up in their little brown files/folders these go automatically into where you store your layouts.

then there's others like ones from pook and reg for example that are not and when you download them they're all seperate.

so what i tend to do is...

say you're downloading a layout called flash cash for instance and the roms etc are in the seperate format (not packed into a little brown folder)

Make a new folder onto your desktop and rename it " flash cash" then once you've download the flash cash download,

Extract the rom parts into the folder you've named " flash cash", then simply move that folder into where your other layouts are stored.

hope this helps

Also to add if you're downloading older layout from this or other sites then you'll need MFME5.1 this will convert all the older DAT.files to be able to play them in MFME6.1

I maybe a layout maker, in the beginnings I made the mistake of adding every rom part into my fruit machine file, I was getting character errors and everything as the rom parts were conflicting against each other lol.
