Hi there

I am brand new here and brand new to fruit machines as well.

I recently got given a Barcrest Gold Strike MPU5 machine.

Getting an alarm when ever i put money in the machine.

As soon as im putting money in the machine the plays counter goes up then gives alarm 61-91 cash is in the meter.

The coin goes into the hopper box and like i said the plays updates correctly as it reads the coins correctly.

I have tried a few things and the only way to clear the error is to change the jackpot amount on my stakes key.

I have attached a video showing this.

Thanks for any help in advance

Check if the meters in the bottom are working when you put coin in, you will need to hold or tape the switch so it thinks the door is shut.
Check meter wires and meter wires on the main board.

So when i put the coin in it registers and goes straight into the left hand bucket at the bottom. It flashes how much has been put in for 1 second at most then gives the error message.

So it seems like it is registering the coins ok.

That's just basically what I told you above.
You will probably need the same one but not 100% sure.

The sec meter will NOT be in the bottom of the cabinet, it will be on the main top glass. usually a slot in the artwork showing the LCD display of the sec meter.

Mechanical meters will be in the bottom of the cabinet but I think this machine will be too.new for those type.

Open the machine and you should see a black rectangular small box, usually black, clipped to the top glass. Check the wiring loom to it, probably 4 or 5 wires going to the plug on the meter and back to the mpu.

If this is connected, then loom shows no damage and the display on the meter isn't showing any digits then you may need a new or replacement meter.

If after replacing the meter, the fault is still there, you may be unlucky and have an mpu fault.

So turns out the sec box wasn't connected to the program card / mpu5 plugged in the right connection and the sec box worked except all numbers where 0's.

Now when i turn the machine on i know get RESET GOTR then after a minute it alarms and gives Alarm 54-2A LCD MET Fail then reads LCD Meter Coms Fail

It sounds like the sec meter isn't talking to the mpu then.

3 things.... meter failure, mpu failure or wiring failure between sec meter and mpu.

Personally I would try another meter first.

Not sure if you have to clear the mpu and sec meter values, stored accounting settings etc.

Thanks

Is it just the 02E that matters when replacing the meter?

how would i clear all that.

Sorry if they are really obvious as stated brand new fruit machines but i really appreciate all the help so far

Just get a line for like model and version and try it. Shouldn't be too expensive.
