Got to respect the bloke, 20 years of Countdown without a day off and a genuine bloke, none of that 'onscreen niceness but a prick offstage' stuff, just a bloody nice bloke :(

Not sure, I mean they can't really replace him on Countdown, I doubt they would even get half the viewers.

never is the same with any program if you replace the main character. Its always boring because u get used to how they present it and then someone else tries to do it

of all the proper quizzes on tv, countdown was the best and whiteley was the master. i hope channel 4 end the program now because he will never be replaced. as for vorderman, lets hope channel 4 end her career as well.

RIP Mr Whitely and condolence's to all family and friends..

Miss Vorderman will probably end up doing a "private Video" that will end up on the net and make her a fortune..and popular.
Cyberpunk:- alienated loner who lives on the edge of society in generally dystopic future where daily life is impacted by rapid technological change, an ubiquitous datasphere of computerized information, and invasive modification of the human body.....Hmmmmm

I see the prices on Richard Whiteleys books have gone through the roof on eBay, but I'll be keeping mine.

I'll also be keeping the 'Vorderboard' I stole after the show and got signed. Yes - here is a pic of a genuine Countdown Vorderboard, signed only by Carol, unfortunately as Richard had gone to the giftshop to sign copies of his book. Not sure if Carol saw me steal it but she signed it anyway, being such a great lass :)

May have to get it framed or something, it's looking a little bent, I had to stand heavy stuff at either end to get this photo :)

Don't forget people, if you ever go to a TV studio, make sure stuff 'accidently' falls into your pocket!

Audience, got mum tickets for her birthday - would you believe it, there was a 4 month wait!

Really good day out, and an excellent bunch of people up there. Was useful that my sister had a place in Leeds we could stay at aswell, made a good day of it :)

I have to admit I was an avid fan of Countdown at one time but then I got my life back :) :)

Seriously though, it was a fun programme and although Whiteley made me cringe sometimes and I felt like rattling him over the head with a blunt object it won't be the same without him. R.I.P.

So Ben, I've always had a bit of a "thing" for the Vord....Is she as nice in real life?

Oh and while I'm at it....When the show first started in 1982 there was another girl who used to do the letters. Can anyone remember her name? I think it was Cathy something or other.

No problem now. I did a bit of research. Kathy Hytner was her name although there was more than one other female hostess.

what an absoulte prick of a guy. his jokes were not funny, his sexual inuendo with carol was a waste of time, and i would rather have had giles brandriff full time with his pathetic xmas sweaters.

that said, i would never wish anybody any ill, expecially a tv tosser, as my gran thought he was the bee`s knee`s.

oh, and his horse won a few times.. i remember paying a few out.

Each to their own, I admit his humour wasn't to everyones tastes, and when I went there appeared to be a large amount of 'more mature' ladies there - what do you expect when there is a dashing 61 year old presenter? *ahem*

Anyway, Carol Vorderman was a very nice lady, to be honest I think all the people, even the general staff were excellent. With that kind of 'low pressure, light hearted' show, I think you'd struggle to find anyone that was a prick.

The only bit I don't agree with is the usage of the word prick Nails, but like I said, thats your opinion :)

A noob?

Me or Richard?

Lets be honest, he has had 23 years presenting that show alone, and has had [as many others have pointed out on the TV and radio over the past 24 hours] a great career in reporting and TV... so he was hardly a noob.

I'm a bit of a noob, but am 3000 posts above you, so *nya* :p
