Sometimes it works sometimes the alarm goes off so guessing its the hopper can anybody pinpoint this for me please cheers

Hi Ian
Have you cleaned the optos on the extit of the hopper.
Other things can be issue on the mpu Scorpion 4,5 or even 6 or Power supply has a weak rail.
Try cleaning it first stuck or jam coin can give this error
Last but least can be the hopper motor its becoming weak which can give the error too
.._-=It`s not a problem only a challenge =-_..
