right went in to my local bookies last sunday to have a bet on the tennis! i messed my slip up so whilst the lady ammended it i put a couple of quid in treasure hunt! i rolled 2 sevens and a cherry first go! and then it held 5 times and rolled in the 3rd seven i won the jackpot within about 2 quid and 2 mins!
did i catch this machine at just the right time or is it a good payout machine??
i didnt even get on the feature board it just rolled the third seven in!

It should take 3 holds, not 5, and IMHO it is the same as any other machine - catch it at the right time and it is possible to get the sevens [or any other JP symbol] to hold.

Not strictly true Ben, not all machines actually Do the 3 hold system, I've played many where I've been disapointed at not getting it on the 3rd hold, same as feature trails apparently only needing to hold 2 or 3 times when on 7 (or 8 depending on machine) and again I've had it hold 5 or 6 times without feature.
The final thing I've had is 3 holds on a pair when you get a bonus after 2nd hold (numbers add to 4 then get stopper and stops on 6) then the 3rd hold didn't work.
Contrary to this on I believe Jewel in the Crown I had 2 holds on Blue sevens when it dropped a number and put me on the win trail, I gambled up to £2.40 I think then lost, it gave me a 3rd hold on the Blue Sevens and said... "thats a swell Idea" or whatever that machine says
maybe I just effect machines differently to other people?
Shall I put myself on Ebay as an RF Manipulator? lol

AFAIK all £25 machines Hi-Techs will do three holds for a win.
EDIT] Sorry, misread part of it.
That bit about holds on numbers is annoying, Barcrest definately only need one hold after the position before the start of the feature [normally accompanied by the machine freezing for a second].
Club machines always get on my tits, what with not doing 3 holds and hold after nudge. Mind you, I've not played a Barcrest clubber in years, not sure if it is just the Global type stuff that doesn't do 3 holds and hold after nudge.

My arse it doesn't
Pretty sure it says 'Hold Em Again' and the reels blink, and the chefs flash, or at least something along those lines.

Of course, there are some machines that have other features after holds,
eg. Red gaming Crazy Cobra has a super skill after 5 turns
JPM Ricochet has hidden features after 5 holds
QPS Doctor Dough and Fruitpots have super start after 5 holds
