So I have Grid Runner an old Maygay unit that I thought Id revive.  I bought a working Epoch board and fired it up.  All Eproms are located fine and definately the right way.....installed and it booted up, gave the usual alarm noise etc then all the lovely flashing lights....great I thought!  The Epoch board has a battery fly lead so as not to suffer any damage and all seemed well.  Coupe of crackling noises then boom nothing,,,dead.  PSU seems all lit nicely just 3 x lights when fired up on the board +12V, -12V, +VLOGIC nothing else.  Normally the +VDISP would be lit, security flashing etc.  Any ideas....I reckon its something other than the Epoch board myself but happy to be proved wrong!

Sounds likely a PSU fault. You need more than those 3 led's lit. If i remember correctly, it is 5 out of the 6 lit (one very dim).

 

The only one that doesn't light depending on the version is the one that supplies the hopper voltage. It only lights when the hopper pays out.

 

Again, i am saying this from memory.

 

The problem with Epoch, the Psu blowing could cause other boards to develop faults... Lamp board (can cause psu to blow also), blown lamp board can damage Mpu etc etc.
