hi
this is realy a question for maybe a professional electronics engineer in the fruity trade...
im sure this question has been asked many many times but are there REALY gadgets that can manipulate fruit machines into paying out? do they realy exist and can they damage my machines?
i was told and even shown one of these devices in action in an arcade and it did seem to work but it could have been coincidence. I was told that it interferes with the (RF) Radio Frequency and transmits data to the machine somehow causing it to pay out or bring wins
this type of gadget could put a lot of people out of buisiness if it realy does exist and works. as i said, i did see one of these things but it could have been a coincidence when it was paying out.
someone put me strait please.
thank you

/me slaps Pgamblin with a dried up smelly rotten old trout ;)

I 'wasnt' asking to buy one, i was mearly asking if they realy do exist because i DONOT want people using them on MY machines.
ive heard many times that they are out there and being used on an everyday basis but it can be worrying to buisiness establishments who are trying to make a living and bring entertainment to customers.
try reading what people write before you post your comments please.
kind regards

me slaps Daz with a soggy mouse-mat

You were doing quite well, the junior member thing was good. Had me fooled for a bit. The deliberate misspelling of straight (strait) was a bit too silly, but still we read and believed.

Then you said kind regards.

A terrible mistake and giveaway Daz. You should have stuck with thankyou. You did leave out the link to driftnet though. After you said 'kind regards' though, you may as well have bunged it on there or referred to it as in 'this guy seems to be selling some genuine rf products at bargain prices'.

I wonder why the name ruler. Perhaps because you were going to spell straight as 'strait'. I don't know.

What the hell are you rambling on about?
Daz? Hmm i think you have me mixed up with someone else. I asked a simple honist question that was all and i realy am new to this site. If you want my IP address then just ask or ask the owner of this site to check it. Feel free to check me out :)
An appology would be nice when you find that you are wrong and you ARE wrong. Not a nice way to treat new comers onto a site. There are other sites similar to this but i choose to registered here only because it looked friendly.
On a last note i almost always put ' kind regards ' at the end of any post that i make on any site, its polite!
kind regards :)

I am humbled.

A few enquiring probes were launched earlier today and indeed it seems you appear indeed, infact, not to be the person I thought you were.

I must apologise for my seemingly inordinate babble the other night. Basically I had consumed one bottle of Stella too many and thought I'd test the water to see if you were Daz Watts.

My comments were totally inappropriate and unwarranted. It was beyond the scope of this forum to make such generic sweeping assumptions and I wholeheartedly eat my words as a result of my foolish, idiotic drunken accusations.

Indeed had you actually been Daz, my comments were not meant to wound or cause offense, just to tidy up a few obvious pointers that might have led to people believing you were Daz when in fact you are not Daz at all.

Should Daz have been reading this, I think Daz would be rather amused to see that the real Daz was mistaken for a fake Daz who is not even Daz at all. IN fact Daz would have been dazzled by the lack of Daz in this forum yet the apparent liberal dishing out of the moniker Daz to all and sundry. I don't really want to bring Daz into this whole sorry affair but I am slightly Dazed by the lack of Daz after playing Bobby Dazzler last night.

Tonight I shall stay Schober! I shall drink only potable water and eat the most frugal of meals. Well I do have some onion bhajis going out of date, so perhaps a glass of sensible ale will wash down the spice a treat.

Anyway chin up! I hope my amusing reposte has cleared the air and not left a lingering bad smell. Surely this thread is back to being whiter than white. No scandalous slurs in site.

kind regards,

Nudgeman and Robin

(you're quite right, a certain 'Smart Bear' signs his emails with kind regards....you're not the smart bear by any chance? [rotating smiley] )

TBH it isn't a problem on home use machines, unless you really don't trust people that will play it :)

If you were in the trade proper, you would be aware of all the exploits, if you are running machines in a pub without a license then TBH security is the last of your worries.

Just an opinion of mine not having tried any rf devices but if they really worked who the hell would sell them so cheap? Lets face it if these things worked you'd use it for your own benefit and be minted!

If you have machines in the wild, then you will need to

Alarm the machine itself, to cover at least the following...

forced door opening (prying a door open, breaking a door open etc)
Unforced door opening (ie they have a set of keys, or a lock pick)
Tilting (in case someone tries to steal the whole machine)

Preferably you should also have any rom and or cabinet security updates
(should be easy to get hold of if actually a legit machine operator)

Even all that is pointless, as a determined theif will eventually find a way to compromise the machine security, so you will also need to ensure the machine is either fully supervised at ALL times, or better yet, have it covered by a good CCTV system to catch anyone in the act....

I would not worry about the miracle devices on ebay, they are car alarm key fobs, often not even working ones.... Some cabs do have other security problems (but not magic emptying devices that also disable your car alarm...), but I wont go into details as you never know what the information would be used for by people reading it.....

Get in touch with the supplier see if there are critical updates for security (not just the software ones, but ones for the cabinet) and if there is, buy them and install them. Remember though, if the machine is not supervised by humans or by cctv then its open to a determined attack, so keep the machines safe by not giving anyone the opportunity to work on them unseen.

If the machines are in the wild, then you should also make sure your staff are trustworthy, if money is going missing then see about install a data logger to keep a check of when the machines are opened etc to see if someone is emptying them when they should not be....

Probably worth also installing a locking bar on some types of cabinet that have crap door locks (I dont bother in the house, I just put a extra bolt on the inside that makes it next to impossible to force the bottom door open, but easy for me to open the bottom door if I open the top door first)
