Is the new 'Lucky Strike' by Barcrest, the one which is very similar to BFU but instead of a dartboard you have sticks of dynamite and red/blue cash values, still on test?

Coo! Red Baron. Maygay released a machine of that name on test about five years ago. It was a clone of Cash Gordon.

Baz, I don't suppose you know why Red Gaming haven't moved on to the Horizon cabinet? I mean it would seem logical to move on to the latest, presumably most secure platform - even if it is just to get attention in a pub?

not sure ben but i can only assume that it costs more to house the games in the horizon cabinet.yes barcrest do actually own red gaming but i feel that red gaming bring out too many test machines and most of them are not that good and get sent back or recalled and they also had a huge fraud scare recently which proves that barcrest do not have the final say on red gaming cabinets.

Probably because there are so many genesis cabinets out there. Most new machines are not actually new they're just refurbished. They can give their customers generous trade-in value for their old machines when they buy new ones and material costs for new machines are pretty much zero.

Sorry, I missed the logic there. How does it prove anything?

Yeah, but those old Genesis cabs would no doubt be taken by say Empire?

Some but very few. I don't know what Empire's sales figures are for this year but they will be miniscule compared to Barcrest and family. I think the frontline AWP market is something like 30,000 machines per year and Barcrest have half of that. That's up to 15,000 almost new cabinets knocking around doing nothing.

red gaming machines arn't rebuilds as barcrest are still producing the genesis cabinet as well as the new horizon cabinet.

if barcrest had the final testing and decisions over a red gaming machine then the fraud that was happening would never occured as barcrest and viviv machines were not prone to the fraud (which was connected to the general barcrest cabinet design and programming from red gaming)

Barcrest probably has a few branches like vivid / red etc so it can test new things out, they probably dont mind if a smaller subsidiary gets a lot of flak when things go tits up, as its not associated in most peoples names with the name barcrest.
Its also more than likely that barcrest is clueless as to what goes on in its own companies, as that is almost always the case in large organisations, the management dont know the difference between their elbow and their arse, never mind anything technical like fruit machines, or people skills / keeping track of who is doing what.....
The note acceptor fraud on reds(if thats the one you are on about) as you point out, just goes to show, that the management at barcrest (or rather IGT now) must be idiots, as they should really have included all tests from *all* relevent companies, into one big standard set of tests. By the looks of it, one tests one way, another does it another (unless none of em tested for that problem, and just red came across it.........)
Come to think of it, I cant believe they use the testing method they do - automated testing, with a computer simulating lots of "human" players.... Doh have they not realised that if it didnt work when testing older machines it WONT WORK TESTING ANOTHER NEWER MACHINE!!!!!! It didnt find the emptiers on the last gazillion machines, so it wont find them on the new ones, sheesh its obvious....
If the method doesnt work, dont use it till its fixed, but they wont learn, its almost like they want emptiers/fraud etc to exist..... Hang on, come to think of it, I have always thought that they put em in on purpose , but this countries laws are a joke, so we are unlikely to find out in a hurry.
Wish the law would change like in america, where the source has to be given over for examiniation before the machine can be used.

totally agree with what you say ken but the fraud that was on the red gaming machines had nothing to do with the note acceptor.
i cant say exactly what it was but it had to do with an error code that red gaming programmers failed to install in all their programs and when someone used a couple of specific household objects in a certain way on their machines it caused the machine to empty itself.
barcrest and vivid machines were not affected.

Many of them are. They will still be sold as-new but most of the components, depending on the condition, will be used.
