on tuesday i went into town bought some shopping and decided to go into this little arcade i went in, and there was a lady giving change to people i cashed a £10 note and played on the Xs and Os machine dont know what the actual machine was called but it had a gold X in the middle reel that activated the top feature. I started playing and got down to my last £2 when i got on to the top feature the reels spun but didnt line anything up it gave me £25 it span again and gave me another £25 it kept doing this and i won £175.00 i was well excited until this lady came up to me and said that the machine has gone wrong and asked for all the money back apart from £25 i refused to give the money back she then told me to get out of the arcade and i was banned for life. Is this right of her to do this? and what rights have i got?

If the machine is faulty then its down to the arcade owner to ensure its not on or in anyway active so that punters can play it.
Their loss if they leave it on and someone exploits a fault with it.

If something like this happens to me, I would rather get banned from the arcade instead of giving the money back. If I was told to give back the money I would interpret this as bribery, blackmail or extortion because the attendant would have actually make me pay to not get banned.
You have the right to keep the money if someone has paid you money for something but the customer does not have enough money or refuse to pay the correct amount.

did you win the full £175 in one go??
if there is a fault on the machine that is visable when the machine is giving the payout then the arcade has the right to not pay out the money and refund your original money.
however they must then put the machine out of order.
baz
