The ironic thing is, after spending hours and hours of my teenage years writing code for Z80 and 6502 based computers, twenty years on I'm still doing exactly the same thing for Scorp 2 and MPU4 based machines. Jesus!

Been watching this thread with amusement....

Back in Jan '04 I did One along the same lines.....

With all this techno stuff changing day-by-day, then 18 months on a similar thread is posted and still attracts as much interest.....

Who say's DOS is dead!

coz 8 bit puters were more hands on.....hands up all those who bought Your Sinclair and spent hours typing in the machine code loader and 8 pages of 00 ef ff 16 ff 00 hex just to play scramble??? or Pacman or fruit machine??? :D
Cyberpunk:- alienated loner who lives on the edge of society in generally dystopic future where daily life is impacted by rapid technological change, an ubiquitous datasphere of computerized information, and invasive modification of the human body.....Hmmmmm

It only took you 8 hours.. I can remember copying something on my Sinclair which took me about 20 hours.. Them stinking rubber keyboards where you had to press 4 keys to get the symbol in the top left corner... And I remember spending 2 weeks writing a game on my Atari ST which I thought was soo cool and then going to back it up and the back up crashing which had been over my original by mistake so I lost the lot - I was gutted.. And my brother used to go through adding malicious stuff to my code everytime I walked out the room..

I used to love the really early speccy stuff like Football manager where you could just break in and edit the code to do weird stuff - like say "Wow James you are the best football manager ever almost godlike and I hear Pamela Anderson Fancies you", then I would win every game by 10 points.. he he

I could spend hours typing in code on a ZX81, not bothering to save to cassette cause it took ages. Then I'd knock the machine and disturb the connection with the 16K RAM pack at the back. The screen would go blank for a couple of seconds, at which point I would have one of those "Oh f**k" moments. I'd know what was coming next: the inverse video "K" in the bottom left corner - and no program.

Super Zaxxon, Crystal Raider, Action Biker as some of my favorites.

So many people, so many comments.

The Atari Lynx. Atari never really bothered with advertising did they? It was a good spec console for its time, but never really took off.
Atari Ste - you needed that e for the 2 colour 640*480 graphics mode. Also you could attach a modem and dial up bulletin boards. Ah, the number of fruit machine games I programmed in STOS - oh....bloop. You could also access the UKFMP bulletin board.
Crystal Raider - There is a cheat mode. Reset the 800XL and I think you hold down 'option' - you are now invincible. 2 dark rooms. Fiery pits of hell. Sparky things. Wiggly worms. Feckin' 'eck that was the business wasn't it?
Action Biker - Clumsy Colin? Pick up the accessories for the drag race. I *think* I completed this. YOu had to pick up about 40 different things on a lapping scrolling 2d map with 3d obstacles. Fiddly to the extreme. I wouldn't have the patience nowadays but back then I bloopin' loved this game.

Chaos - Played the 'spoof' version on the Atari STe with samples from 'Bottom' 'Red Dwarf' 'Blackadder' and 'The Holy Grail' to name but a few - "I'm invincible!" Anyone get an Alien spell?

VEGAS JACKPOT. A classic game. I'd forgotten all about it actually. You could lose all your money down the fair and come back and win some back on Vegas Jackpot.

Thrust. Caverns of Eriban. CAVERNS OF ERIBAN. Another cracker. Computer games today just ain't the same. Sure GTA is fun, but in such a DIFFERENT way. Maybe it's an age thing, I don't know.
@_!!

Oh the fruit machine games I wrote in STOS as well.. STOS was sooo cool.. lol.. How long ago was that though ---seems forever.. Atari Lynx was brilliant for the time.. problem was due to the backlighting batteries lasted sub 20 minutes.

True...But then take Brighton & Hove Albion......1-1 draw first game...7th Place.

They end up in Div 1 at the End of the Season.......

Yet u can still count it as an attempt :o

Make sense?.....

Don't run before you can walk matie.......

Sorry but reading some replies you have made here, don't drag my name down by your 'getting a big-head--i'm a layout designer?'

Want to learn?...wait 'till you have, if what I showed you isn't up-to-scratch is my look-out at the end...........thats at the end.......not this short time into it.

That makes your last posts make no sense.

Without direct quoting, CrazyBar said he was the youngest designer. You then replied with 'i am im 9', whereas if you meant you were the youngest desginer and are aged 19, I think I was 17 when I did Crystal Maze, and CrazyBar is about 12 I believe...

Oh, I'm not the MD of Barcrest lol... if I was I would probably not currently be living with parents, and I would probably have a car :p
