Hi There,
I have recently purchased Wet N Wild by mazooma for personal pleasure. Everything was working for for a while but now all of the buttons on the top half of the machine except the take feature button have stopped working, have you any ideas as to what could be wrong, they all still light up just nothing happens when you press them. I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks
John Whetton

Check your fuses, sounds like the fuse that drives those buttons has blown.

Also check the connections going into the s4 mainboard.

What cabinet is it in? if its a smiley 2 then the mainboard will be directly in front of you when you open the front door upwards.

The PSU will be in a slide out tray on a shelf below the button panel near the hopper.

If its an eclipse I cant help you (but IIRC this ones in a smiley 2)

if its only a couple of buttons on the top glass not working just check it isn't just a wire that comes from the switch isn't accidently jammed into the connector of the other switch thats not working.

it wont be the power supply or fuses if some of the buttons are still working.

if its not the wiring then it may be the scorpion 4 board.

Thanks for all your responses, it is in a smiley 2 cabinet. yesterday i did open up the machine and i made sure all the connectors were pushed on correctly and i took some off then blew on the to remove any dust, when i switched the machine back on all the buttons worked fine but when i switched it on this evening they wernt working again so i opened it up again played about with the connectors and i managed to get one working press of the lo button but that was it they have stopped working yet again and i cant work out whats wrong. i hope that it is just a loose connection or like you said baz a trapped wire. I will check the things that mythicos and baz have mentioned and i hope i can get it working again. Just some additional info for you brain boxes out there. On the top glass there are 6 buttons, they are, take cash, hi lo, take prize, change number and take feature, all of the buttons dont work apart from the take feature button which works fine, now i have looked in my manual that came with the machine and it says that the 5 buttons (the ones that dont work) are linked together via 1 switch or strobe (i dont understand) now the take feature button which works is wired to a switch or strobe on its own so ..................... I hope this helps you all a little bit more as it means absolutley nothing to me. your help is much appreciated. please keep helping me to try to fix my new machine
Thank guys
John

Hi

Right i dont know too much about fruit machines but my electronics knowledge might be able to help.

Basically what it sound like is happening it the conections are not tight enough to get a proper electrical connection and is becoming open circuit and is intermittant proved by you holding it and getting it to work, electrical connections especially high voltage need a tight connection to ensure good current flow and to make sure you dont get any arcing of the contacts and burn them out.

Ever seen a burnt out mains plug socket, thats why.

either that or the solder on the pins of the board has gone dry and open circuit

What i suggest is to slighty bend/tweak the pins so you get a good tight connection but becareful not to snap the pins, for the life of me i dont know what these connections look like and the possiblity of being able to bend them so i would wait till someone on here with more fruit machine knowledge than me gives the go ahead.

Hope that helps

Andy

Basically John mate you need to trace that strobe (or wire).

The buttons that are intermitantly (sic) working are all on the same 'strobe' or basically the same wire.

That narrows it down to that particular wire mate so basically go around behind the buttons and make sure you dont have a loose connection on the back of any of the microswitches.

This sounds like a bit of a no brainer but I forgot about this....

Down inside the button panel door (you need to undo 2 locks and itll come down) there is a white master plug that basically sits in a bracket and connects the whole topglass of the machine (lamps and buttons) into the bottom half of the machine by ways of a single large white plug.

I would remove that plug (it has a catch to make it come out, similar to a computer's ATX power supply connector) and give it a blow and plug it back in.

I know my crazy fruits has one of these and being in the same cab it should also be the same in yours.

Funnily enough I built my machine 100% myself from just the internals, I made a cabinet and fitted it all in and I specifically remember some of the lamps and buttons not working because that large connector wasnt seated properly.

That could explain your problem there, on my machine is is left side inside the roll down button panel part (2 locks, the one with the coin tray in it)

Good luck :)

Hi Mythicos and everyone,
i have had another look at my machine and tried everything that you have all said but still i have no joy. One thing i did notice is that the microswitch for the take cash button looks like it has burnt out as there is a black film on it. could it be this that is causing the problem?? if it has burnt out would that cause the other buttons not to work?? if yes does anyone know where i can get some of these microswitches?? or can anyone sell them to me??
Thanks
John

all scorpion 4 boards are the same.

no i would try that.

if it still doesn't clear the fault at least you have a spare mpu which you will need at some point.
