You didn't miss it as it ain't there. Bar X by Electrocoin runs on unemulated technology so basically thats the end of that. You won't find it here or anywhere else for that matter.

However there are a few machines which look and play like Bar X, most of which you'll find in the downloads section.

What tech does Bar-x run on?

This is a site for EMULATION purposes of older machines. Not playing strategies.
If you are more interested in playing modern machines,
visit Jackpottyforums

(DOND is around now on this site..... How long was this sig out of date...!)

electrocoins own tech, uses many z80s to control the io outputs, no lamp multiplexing like mpu4 etc so not many lamps

Would it theoretically be possible to emulate the tech?

What I mean by that is - would it be safe for it to be done?

Do they still use the same tech today on their machines like the old bar-x machines?

It doesn't sound too complicated a tech to do, but I can't code for toffee so I wouldn't know. :)

And while we are talking about techs, what technology do the Astra machines use?

Here's an example. Do machines like Riverboat Gambler, Double Cash, and Party Time use the same tech?

This uses the Select ROM's as do a few others.....

Shame it's not 100%, but it is playable.

Well the Bar X 10 and such machines do use the same board BUT anything with a note acceptor does not so I would say it would be safe now. People are still writing code for the original board but the 2 main ones will not work with any emulator. The "chuzzy" update kits uses an extra board to work so is not worth emulating and the Concept update kits will not work because they have a protection chip that could be got round easy but I am not about to give away unprotected code for it lol

Astra use astras own board which is very similar to pluto 1. The design of the board has changed a bit over the years but I beleive its like the impact situation, the design had changed but the code still works on all revisions. So to answer your question yes they do use same tech but there is an FPGA protection chip thats unique to each machine

So they could be done to a certain degree then. I can see where the difficullties are though.

Each machine using a unique protection chip sounds like a big put-off, even if it could be done.

I guess the Astra machines would have to be stand-alone emulations.

All food for thought nevertheless. :)
