I've sold my last two machines :
Bell Fruit Showtime (£70 jackpot with note acceptor) and
Bell Fruit Random Spinner (B3 £1 play £500 jackpot with note acceptor)
Showtime was boring as hell on £70 jackpot, and it soon became apparent I couldn't make it play better. Basically it was impossible to get certain features. Getting Mega Streak was impossible (or incredibly unlikely) without the machine being invincible... and it kept buggering up my attempts to force it by throwing in £25 / £40 Cash or Busts. I was in the process of dropping it down to £35 jackpot (required a new PIC chip from Bell Fruit), but decided it would be simpler to just sell it and try something else.
Random Spinner was also boring as hell. The top wheel rarely gave 3 figure amounts, instead almost all the large wins / jackpots I got were from gambling red or black on cash wins. I was going to keep it and use it as a note changer, since it had £900 float capacity and a good note acceptor, but decided that was a silly idea so it had to go.
... and I've ended up with a Bar X Ten
It was on £25 BAR and £10 XXX, I've now dropped it to £5 BAR and £1 XXX (using Super Red Bar decals), 20p play and 84% payout... and it's a good laugh! I mean it's simple, but it's good fun. On £5 / 20p it's offering a nice fast game with some reasonable streaks
It's a bit of a shock having one of these... coming from normal Scorpion 4/5 or MPU5 hardware, this is ridiculously simplistic. The only lamps on this machine are in the buttons, and the nudge lights. All the other lighting is done by fluorescent tubes (one above and below the reels, two in the top glass and presumably another one or two in the belly glass).
It's in good nick too, although in the photo it's got quite a few fingerprints on it
I'm definitely in the market for another machine... I'm thinking a clubber? That way I'll have a nice, simple, low-stakes machine for casual investments, and a clubber for if I fancy a challenge (i.e. spend a few hours in the garage with some beers trying to punt a jackpot out)
