And you know the really stupid thing about these section 16 random machines? If somebody had had the idea years ago they have been law since 1974 (I think). They are part of the original gaming act. So you could have had a machine with a £6 token jackpot on 20 win lines paying out a jackpot of £120 in tokens!!!

Wow, imagine that! With that stake/prize ratio the hit would have been amazing!
£120 in tokens...that's a lot of fags and Marks and Spencer vouchers!
Or just dump them in a Fairground or a Labyrinth or something!
So what's your latest game called then Gary?
You say you're a designer and a programmer; that's a rare breed. You sound similar to a guy I know who has done machines himself - Jeremy Bryant his name is. Wrote the software for Astra's Party Time. Now works for JvH.
Sometimes I wish I learned how to code, because then you have total control over what the machine comes out like. Sometimes you tell a software guy how you want the game to play, and it doesn't always come out like you wanted it. I'm more of a player/designer you see...
At least with S16 games you can do the stats yourself, and then you have control.
I wish you the best of luck with your new game.

Latest game is called Stake X, a sec 16 bar x type game. Very high hit rate (gives back £5 on average every 11.5 spins for 50p stake).
Learning to code is not that hard if you have examples and people your work with who are willing to help you. I got lucky in that respect
You missed you that JB had a spell at Empire before going to JvH

From the look of that machine [although I could be totally wrong!], it appears to have Hold/Nudge buttons. I wouldn't have thought holds or nudges would be allowed on a Sec 16 machine?

That was the original version with a £25 jackpot.
They are not hold buttons but as the buttons were already there they were reused for other functions. From what I can remember they were, collect, transfer note bank, transfer win bank stake, autoplay, start

Yeah, I was there at the same time he was. He was doing Golden Balls at the time, nice idea but maybe turned out to be almost too advanced for some players. I liked it though. He was also at Gamestream for a bit (although I think he'd rather forget that)
He's a good bloke, talks a lot of sense.

Single win line and all wins over £25 paid in vouchers
What kind of vouchers?
#79
Posted 26 September 2005 - 03:40 PM
high street vouchers. the first machines had the smallest sticker imaginable, saying all wins over £25 paid in vouchers.

It wouldn't surprise me if the arcades offer cash alternatives on this. It's illegal but you can't put shopping vouchers back in the slots, can you now?
