a kitten, 8 weeks old was knocked over and killed a few weeks back, right out side my house, i got the drivers license plate, told the owner of the kitten and they took the matter further.
apparently, under the law, you only have to stop if you hit a dog. So therefore, the police would not interviene.
if i hit a cat/kitten, i would be mortified, but would have the guts to knock on the nearest door and report the incident.
the saddest part was watching the owner in question, go out with a mop bucket and broom, in a desperate bid to remove the blood from the road.
accidents will happen, but hit and run on any such pet should be a crime.
