Ok chaps, after Rimmerworld asked about watercooling, I decided to start this thread so the more geeky of us could show pics of our insane (or just plain garish :)) PCs... and I may as well get the ball rolling.

I started building this PC a couple of months back, and the spec has changed so much since then... it was

Eye-T B2 550W PSU
Antec Plusview1000 AMG SOHO case,
AMD AthlonXP 3200 CPU with Asus StarIce Heatsink/fan
Geil 512mb DDR400
Abit AN7 Motherboard
HIS IceQ Radeon 9800 Pro AGP
CPU cooled by Asus StarIce 880gram copper heatsink and fan.

...

It is now

HiperPower 580W Type-R Modular PSU
Antec Plusview1000 AMG SOHO case, with bottom 3 drivebays removed, 2x Hiper UV Cold Cathode tubes, 5x Coolermaster Red LED fans (controlled by Thermaltake X-Controller)
AMD Athlon64 Venice Skt939 CPU - clocked from 1800MHz to 2595MHz
Geil 1024mb DDR400 [2x512mb in Dual Channel mode]
DFI LanParty UT nForce4 SLI-D Motherboard
Sapphire x700 PCI-E PCI-E
CPU cooled by Gigabyte 3D Galaxy Watercooling kit.

--------

I know some people comment on how expensive it must have been - actually not that expensive. An educated guess from me is £550 + monitor. Not bad really when you consider that at that speed, my PC is as near as damnit silent [the watercooler pump vibrates a little but I've mounted it on fuzzy pads]... and the CPU outperforms an AMD Athlon64 4000+ San Diego Core 64 bit CPU... which costs £272.59. My CPU, including Royal Mail Special Delivery, AND the Watercooler... still cost under £170 ;)

In fact is is only JUST shy of the performance of the FX55 CPU**, and I reckon with a couple more volts on my board I can easily beat it. Bear in mind that the FX55 costs more than ALL of my components put together. £586 inc VAT :)

** Although the FX55 has 2x as much cache, so in real world terms it may be a different story, in number crunching benchmarks there was only a slight difference between the two.

--------

Anyway, heres some pics for you lucky people. I hope other people add their pics, because my rig is utter shite and I want to see how to do it properly :)

Nice one, good usage of space :)

What amazes me is that the monitors and stuff you have there... you can literally get those free these days, so to keep the PCs running will cost bugger all :o

Kinda like the opposite of my PC - I hope I am right in saying that looks like a PC salvage job - someone throws out a perfectly good tower, someone else throws out a perfectly good monitor, voila - perfectly good PC :)

Nice mug, holds about a pint. You can guess what I was up to, while I was checking for leaks and running Prime95 and SuperPI to check for overclock stability? Yup, only the thickest, blackest pint of caffinated goodness can keep a computer geek staring at a motherboard looking for drips for that long :D

I'll include some of my geeky T-shirts in any more pics I post... theres some classic phrases on them ;)

May have to ask people to donate to see me wear them and give the cash to Children in Need or something lol :)

Cheapish, Faster than most stuff out there, and also lights the room up, saving wear and tear on the light switches :)

I fail to believe that noone else out there wants to post pics of their PC?!

Good god, it's a thread I started ages ago!

Can't believe how untidy the inside of the PC I posted was. On my new build, every cable to the mainboard (front USB2, front USB3, buttons / lights and HD audio) I've routed under the mainboard itself, secured with cable ties behind the mainboard. Should be no stray wires in sight, I'm much more anal about such things now :D

I've downsized from a Coolermaster HAF-X with 2 x GTX580 in SLI, to a Coolermaster CM Storm Enforcer with a single GTX580 (albeit with a massive Arctic Cooling heatsink).

It's an i5 2500k @ 4.5GHz (it does 4.8GHz but requires quite a voltage bump, which increases temperatures to a level I'm not happy with, but 4.5GHz is cool and quiet!). It's cooled by a Prolimatech Genesis fitted with two Xigmatek 14cm orange fans. All fans (including the 20cm top exhaust and 20cm front intake) are controlled by a Zalman 5 pot controller, so I can have it silent for general use, or crank it up if I fancy some insane overclocking (you know, for a laugh!).

8GB RAM, 128GB Samsung 830 SSD, 300GB Velociraptor and a 2TB media drive. PSU is a Cougar GX800W modular. I added the castors myself as it's going on the floor soon!! :D

It's probably silly replying to this thread given it's so old, but sod it, it's brought back memories of my old Plusview case!! :D

I was offered a CM Scout but didn't like the window design. The CM Storm Enforcer was £65 including next day delivery, very happy at that price, it's just like a little HAF-X with all it's useful touches and huge top and front fans (I used one of the top fans from my old HAF-X in this, since one isn't included).

The PC you posted is one of those Aerocool Strike X cases isn't it? Any good? It's probably a bit OTT for me but does look nice - however, I'm not keen on the side mesh, would prefer a window.
