Hi there

I have just recently purchased a Psycho Cash Beast Club fruit machine which I think is ace (Barcrest).

But every now and then (once every 200 presses or so) when you hit the 'Psycho Play' button, the following error appears and I have to reset the machine (as none of the buttons will work) :

AL 54-25
89321 DSP FAILED - 2 COMMANDS RETURNS 2

Any thoughts as to why it does this ?

Jason

Sounds like a programming error, although you had better let the engineers answer that :D.

Well done on your purchase though, best machine ever IMO. How much and where from? :D

hello mate

that error is connected with the mux 5 board.not the mpu 5!!!!!!

i cant remember offhand but it should be the board thats attached to the lamps on the top glass,if not it will be inside the cabinet somewhere.

this board will be faulty.

all errors on barcrest mpu5 that start with a number in the 50's are conneceted with the mux5 lamp driver board.

so thats what you need.

thanks bazpeep !

that's a shame - I'll have to check ebay for barcrest spares then and purchase an MUX5 board.

I bought the fruit machine on ebay not long ago.

cheers

just checked an original pcbc manual that i have in the workshop and all errors with the bacta code in its 50's including code 54 states that it is the mux 5 board.

i have supplied bladefan2 with a fully working mux5 board this afternoon so hopefully he'll have his cpcb machine up and running by late this afternoon.

on some rare occasions the mpu5 can cause an error that describes itself as a mux 5 fault but i would defo try the mux 5 board first.

Hi LincsLeisure -

I have fitted the new MUX5 board and after a couple of spins it decided to 'reboot' itself.

It seems to have settled down now though - I've not had the original 54.25 error once, and I've had about £300 in, so early indications point to it as being 'repaired' and in 'full working order'.

Thank you so much for your help !!

Unfortunately, my other fruit machine Eastenders appears to have gone to the great fruit machine graveyard in the sky... (please see other thread entitled 'Maygay Eastenders fault')

Hope you have it sorted now but as I stated earlier that error you reported relates to the mpu5 board and NOT the mux board both my machine manual and field service manual states that it is an mpu5 error. pic enclosed

That's strange Slippery !

it could be the MPU5, but since I've changed the MUX5 things seem to be fine.....

we'll have to wait and see.....

Hi Baz

no - it's the original PCBC - it says Barcrest on the main digital display.

Still playing it today and still not come up with the error (as yet !)

Mine is the BWB rebuild but all my manuals are Barcrest I may be wrong but I would have thought all the error codes for the mux board state mux on the display its the AL 54-25
89321 DSP FAILED that I'm looking at . Obviously its an intermittant fault or would come up as soon as powered up. Just having a further look in manual and mux faults are:- MUX UNIT MISSING, MUX UNIT FAILED, MUX UNIT RESET, MUX NOT RESET, MUX UNIT OLD VER, MUX DRV TR FAIL, MUX ENB TR FAIL.... but no 89321 DSP FAILED for MUX faults. Obviously one of our manuals is wrong but would be nice to find out as my field service manual states the same. But hey if its sorted out now job done stranger things have happened lol

*** HOLD EVERYTHING ***

I'm now getting a different error since putting in the MUX5E board -

ALARM 30-52
MUX UNIT FAILED
UNIT '0, CMD '3, RESULT PARS

and I get 'HEY! CHECK IT OUT!' playing over and over again now ....

I've reset the machine and it's playing fine again -

it seems the original error has been replaced by a new error - so maybe it is a MPU5 board error being sent to the MUX5 board (masking itself as MUX5 error).

hmmmm, interesting....
