it depends what you are planning on doing with it.
£800 is lots of money for a months rental if you want it just for your house but if you are legally siting the machine for the public to play then yes you will make your rental money back.

why would you want a single player? surely half of the appeal of pta for the operator is that people seeing others getting a good streak up top will entice them to play in the other positions on the multiplayer.
I agree....But go to smaller...Pub's, Pool's Club or basically anywhere with limited space, you have something as 'familar' as this will encourage players?
You see the possibilities of the upper game paying big and you chance it?

I don't think at that kind of money a PTP would be any use in a pub... pubs tend to have more 'casual' players, people more than willing to play just a few quid off and leave it. Machines like this appeal more to the BarX type players - people that intend to spend a large amount of time (and money) gambling - and when you think the machine needs to be UP by £800, at 80% or so that means it'll need to have about (assuming the percentage is on target), £4000 played through it in the month, before license is taken into account, before you even show a profit.

i can see the validity of siting it in a pool or snooker club, but not a pub. as has been said, these things, like all lo tecs are long cycle, and so require a largish investment to get it going. if sited in a pub, where the majority are 'change from the round' type people most would get nowt from their investment (and i use investment both times in the loosest sense of the word), subsequently it will get a bad rep as paying nowt, and the masses will ignore it.

and to add:
adyb, mself, i would only play a pta if i had seen at least 200 go down the back. even then i would play for one or two wins on the lower reels to see if they would go up. this limits the damage. if they don't i would still walk away. pta's are not the same as golden games for example, which you can read and accurately predict. i do not know how to play pta - some do - but i view them as being nothing more than dangerous wallet emptiers. i am quite happy leaving them alone.

Oh, BTW the outright purchase cost of this machine is £7000 against PTA 4pl which is about £10,000. I got prices from a leisure company who i think bought from Crown.

HI
I think the appeal of the single player party time would be for either smaller arcades who would like to have a machine that is popular with wide player appeal but who dont have the space for a multi-player version of the machine, or an arcade who wants to have a party time in there 10p play £5 area but once again dont have or want to use the space taken up with a multi player version of the machine.

I have two PTP near me, both in family arcades. One is on £25 30p (Funland Hayling Island) and the other in on £5 10p (Sega Park Southampton).
