Why is it the sound effects on these things always have the sounds of machines from about 1970.. everytime someones playing one of the machines the have completely different sounds to what they would have had in the real life pubs..

The one in Corrie is quite a good one by Voodoo. Can't remember the name of the machine, even though I was only playing on it this afternoon! Got to say though, the actual sounds are a bit 80s ish!

You sure maz......?

I heard it last night and I know it's from a 'retro' machine....but personally I think it's from something else.

The reason the music on the machines are different to what they're supposed to be could be one of two reasons.

The sound of the machine would interfere with what they are saying on-screen, or possibly they would have to pay Royalties on the samples that are playing on the machines.

They're the only reasons that I can think of. And are most probably completely wrong! :)

yeah the machine on corrie is a voodoo cash blast which is brand new release.

the sounds sound like they are from a bar x so i can only assume for legal reasons they are not allowed to put money into the actual machines.

noticed this on quite a few programmes.

They sound like they are from one of those £4.80 JP machines which have the different coloured money bags for JP symbols.

Its down to the sound departments - no sounds are allowed on set - apart from the actors drone that is! So 'stock' sound is added afterwards, which, as everyone has guessed, usually was recorded 20 years ago! But i heartily agree its time for the Queen Vic to have a change of machines and i don't mind having their old ones :p

Last time I checked, the Queen Vic had that damn Cash Bang Wallop, while the bookies had a Dosh & Pecks and/or a Hi Flyer. The Rovers Return has that Voodoo mentioned above, before that it was an Extreme - Jackpot And The Beanstreak, which had a dodgy Hi-Lo reel.

I noticed the reel was well out of sync, in a subsequent show the machine was showing a reel error (obviously with the speaker unhooked!), and then it was repaired a few eps later :)

eastenders also used to have a high flyer... soz just wanted to add that... it was before they had the cash bang wallop one that theyve had for like 7 months now.. lol..
if they cant use the sounds... how come theyre aloud the actual machines... do you think they buy royalties to have the machine sited in a set pub... or not.. coz to be honest i wish pub on tv shows didnt have fruities in the shot becoz it just draws da eyes away from da scene... and also sum1 sed they might not be allowed to play it whilst shootin... ive sin sum1 actually play it... and ive also seen sum1 stadning there pretending to play it... when it is quite clearly not got credit in coz all da lights were flahin like when it in attract mode.

Now I can laugh at this. Your wife was right Baz.....lol. Come on guys, get out a bit more. :)
