Thankfully i aint done it myself and not likely to as my fruit machine playing is very little at the mo.
However there are tales about of many a person throwing thousands of pounds in these machines with no result.
Often with a machine people find themselves putting say £40 in, if they lose then the thought becomes its bound to pay soon so another £40 goes in, this continues but becuase said machine is percentage based you can often get back at least some of this money. So you leave having put say £200 in but managed to at least leave with some small amount of dignity with the £50 in your pocket.
The problem here is that the machine is random and so the odds never become more favourable to you, you can put as much as you like in, its no more or less likely to pay out. In the same respect you could put £10 and take 2 jackpots (highly unlikley though so dont go heading out to try)
Basically steer clear of these things, they will bleed you dry in an instance. If you plan on going out to have a go, Take your proposed budget of how much you dont mind losing then leave your wallet, credit cards, cheque books, basically anyway you have of removing more money from your account AT HOME!

right near christmas too, i have much more better things to do with £600 than play a £500 slotto, many people have been warned how random they really are and you have proved it by losing £600.

Nothing against the starter of this thread as im sure he didnt realise but it is starting to get tiresome

Well I put £12 in a £500 won nothing this sly tosser came along played 1 game at £2 and won £500 I was playing the machine next to him by this time, I was f*****g gutted. He didn't even smile about it well one good thing it only paid £260 out so they asked him to come back later... Ahh I hate that
Oh I saw a women play it for 3 days solid put £2000 GRAND IN lost the lost she fell to the floor and passed out she was f***ed, poor woman however they have put these huge signs saying DO NOT CHASE THE JACKPOT THIS MACHINE PLAYS AT COMPLETE RANDOM..
I would suggest sticking afew quid in and just leaving them, they arn't worth it

DO NOT CHASE THE JACKPOT THIS MACHINE PLAYS AT COMPLETE RANDOM..
On Elvis I know for sure that it does say that on the info screen (in as many words)

I once stuck £2 in one of these, won £26 out, and that was my one and only ever dalliance with a Section 16 machine... I dont even really understand them!

The fact these machines play at random seems a bit misleading. At least with percentages you had some clue to the effective odds and knew (if they were reporting correctly) the kind of percentage the operator was making. With these new random machines if you added the chance of each win together and worked the relevent pay for each win respectively I wonder what the effective percentage would be.
I haven't seen or played any of these machines as I went cold trukey on fruitmachines about 5 years back, do they state a percentage chance of winning? I think next to the prize amounts it should tell you the actually odds of said prize. I am sure less people would play if they realized the chance of getting the jackpot was say for example 25000-1 lol
seems a bit like me charging a pound for you guessing the number and not telling you what the range of the numbers to choose from are

I'll check out the info section on Elvis next time I'm in Showboat.
I can't believe they'd imply do not chase the jackpot. That's like a convention of cannibals having a Kuru awareness evening!
I have my suspicions about these Section 16 macines. The gameplay may be across a larger cycle and subject to more fluctuation than Section 34 (hi/lo-tech AWP machines) but I have strong doubts they are 100% random as is proclaimed on the front of that Cms abomination, 8 Liner.
It *is* a good feeling to drop a jackpot on Slotto, very good. It's a reel buzz and those wilds and sevens (why do the bars never drop in?!?) dropping in will play back in your head for many days to come.
On the other hand pumping £400 into a poxy 8 Liner and not getting higher than a £35 win is a real sickener and something you won't forget in a hurry either.
Elvis seems from an observer's point of view to offer the best gameplay of the section 16s. There are mid-tech features and lots of regular little wins. Good graphics and sound FX as well. As with all S16s though, I have seen people banging their heads against the walls on this one.
The worst s16 out there is definitely 8 LINER. This has got smashed up more times than I can remember. It is *terrible*. I have also got stung on this one. I have yet to see Slotto/Elvis/Fortune 500 or the others get smashed, but this one gets put through on a monthly basis it seems!
My best advice, don't play them. Or if you're a gambler like me, limit yourself beforehand. A £1,£10 a £100 whatever you want. If you don't set yourself limits, expect to get burned - badly burned.

The Elivs one, the one with the guitars, records and jukeboxes does seem to be, well, a lot shitter than the others for some reason. Might be a more jackpot happy machine than others like it?
