Hi all, just to let you know :
I work for (as you are probably aware), the Currys / Dixons / PC World / The Link group of companies, and had a quick check on the Xbox 360 stock levels at work today.
Noticed that quite a few PC World branches close to me had upwards of 10 Xbox Core versions in stock, and I know a fellow staff member drove to another store straight after work to pick up a Full console which was put aside for them about an hour before.
Basically, if you want an Xbox 360, and don't want to pay the stupid amounts on eBay, get in touch with a local Currys / Dixons / PC World store. Pretty sure you can get phone numbers from the website.
Obviously I can't guarentee it is the same up and down the country, but in my area stock seemed pretty readily available.
I'm providing this info as a helpful service, for anyone that is desperate for a console and is considering eBay (i.e paying 200% plus of RRP) for example.
I'm not going to say whether or not I agree with the fact that some customers for other store groups (GAME and Amazon say) still have not received pre-orders, while you could walk into a store today without a pre-order and walk out with a console.

Regarding Xbox 360 Stock Levels...

Ok, note that I obviously can't guarentee any success with this, but if anyone decides to give this a bash, if they could let me know how they get on that would be good
The product code for the Xbox 360 Core version (I don't have the Full version code at the minute I am afraid, but the person you call may have access to it...)... is
785201
I'd say to give Currys a shot first, then if they have none in stock, ask them to check local stores, and if that still shows nothing, ask them to check stock at their local Distribution Centre, which would let you order a console for home delivery over the phone (assuming the store allows it, delivery to cardholders address only), or possibly to order one into store for collection.

I`ll bet some of those people that missed out wished they lived in Japan as they can`t seem to shift them over there.
But for some greedy people to sell them to the gullable and desperate for double the price is a joke, even the nearby Cex store are doing it. You can build a half-decent PC for that kind of money...
One other thing, 3 days after it came out I saw in my local gamestation second-hand games for it! I wonder if the seller was one of those who got the games but not the console...

Glad i did not pre order 1 £50 quid a game wot a rip off..Got a ps2 and psp decided to buy a chipped xbox for now after seeing the 360 game prices going to wait awhile..Seeing as the xbox dropped around £150 after about 2 mouths after release date maybe the 360 will do the same as the ps3's looking a steep on the price when it gets released..
