Sorry if I sound stupid

Being as novice as I am with the iternet, I have only learnt today that people can use my broadband connection if the have wireless connection on their PC / Laptop... (I found this out by a work collegue who does this)

I don't have wireless connections on my PC for the interent... Does this mean peolple can still hack my internet? She tells me I need a modem locker... Does anyone use one of these? If so does anyone recomend one (If I need one)

Cyberpunk:- alienated loner who lives on the edge of society in generally dystopic future where daily life is impacted by rapid technological change, an ubiquitous datasphere of computerized information, and invasive modification of the human body.....Hmmmmm

Sounds like the typical secretary that can type letters and assumes she can also manage a network and handle computer hardware matters.

For someone to use your ADSL connection, they need an ADSL connection themselves, and they need to know your password/username you use to log in. All that will protect you from that will be common sense, and probably a reasonable firewall.

Note: this is not covering bluetooth, which *is* piggy-back-able and insecure. (generally over short distances though, unless someone has the 'rifle')
