Considering a bloke from Sony said 'it won't be cheap', I'm pretty sure it'll be released for more like £299 when it finally gets here. While that sounds really expensive, when PS1 and Saturn were in the shops, they were both about £299.99.

sony are actually going to be making a loss on the sales of the new PS3. believe it or not they cost £290 to produce but are infact selling for £220. not sure what the reason is behind this but it is true! must be making the money in the future somehow.

same with the xbox360 read somewhere it costs about £500 to make. Not sure if the £500 is right but it was more than what they sell it for

If sony sold the ps3 at a profit they wouldn't sell as many and they will be playing catchup with MS in terms of market share. First rule of business, always undercut the opposition

What a load of rubbish the ps3 will be out soon hahaha considering its not even out in japan yet and a console needs at least two to three months before localisation is incorporated you'll be lucky if you see it this side of christmas a summer release is possibly on for japan. Also the price tag isnt even confirmed so who ever started this post wise up like to everybody else i know you's are just talkin about games in general so no offence it does my head in when people start going i know this and that when they just look so dense at the end of it there you go rant over

According to forbes news the ps3 will be released around March 2007 if Sony can increase their Chip yield and Blu ray drive production to allow a production release, if not, dont expect a UK release before Dec 2007.
Lik Sang are taking orders on Japanese machines which are due for release March of this year, but may be delayed until Dec 2006.
Lik Sang are taking orders on Japanese machines which are due for release March of this year, but may be delayed until Dec 2006.
A story by AFX News Limited at Forbes.com raises doubts about the launch of the Sony PlayStation 3 based partly on its non-appearance at the recent Consumer Electronics Show:
Although Sony had a prominent location on the showroom floor at the annual convention, the company showcased televisions and portable music players, while the PlayStation 3 was tucked behind glass in the back of its booth. Sony offered only non-playable, demonstration versions of a limited number of games.
Other factors include the difficulty of manufacturing high volumes of key parts -- the PS3's untried Cell processor and Blu-ray drives -- at acceptable prices. The story says:
Even the most optimistic analysts say Sony will wait and miss its predicted launch window to ensure it maximizes the ratio of usable chips per silicon wafer, better known as a chip's yield, before Sony begins mass production.
When it comes to launching the PS3:
Evan Wilson of Pacific Crest Securities, said 'the most likely scenario' is that PS3 will be released in Japan this summer with about 1 million units and in the US in November with 1 million units, followed by a European launch in March 2007.
This is pretty much what I've been predicting for some time. And I won't be too surprised if Sony misses those dates.
