So, I currently have a Monty Python machine, running 10p/£5. Nice machine, good if you want plenty of fun for a fiver stake.
However, I am currently planning on saving some cash from a machine, and £5/10p Monty Python isn't the meanest machine ever. I am thinking of getting something which will take serious money into it's cashbox fairly quickly. Seriously - this is for personal use, I am aiming to save the amount of £1250 over the next 3 months in a bandit, and reckon the best way will be something like a Bar X.
Does anyone have a Bar X or similar - it'll need to be £25JP / 30p I reckon - which they could deliver to me? Failing that, anyone know how much something like this will cost? I'm under the impression it'll be more expensive than a Hi-Tech because they take good money in arcades, so people are less willing to let them go.
Again, it really needs to be £25/30p (I'll consider £15/30p possibly), and I'll need it delivering to Spalding. Doesn't need to be an Electrocoin, I'd be happy with anything stingy (Mazooma, Astra, JPM, even a Barcrest lo-tech).
Note acceptor would be a HUGE plus, but isn't necessary.
Feel free to reply to this thread telling me I'm mental

try playing a game on the emulator, but put every quid into a moneybox, conveniently by the side of the computer?

Agreed Nails....Sounds a bit rum this thread!!!
Didn't you say a couple of days ago Ben that your money was due in? Why don't you just put the required amount into an account and give someone else the card so you can't access it?

OK, this is actually due to a combination of things.
For example, on Wednesday I put £160 in a BFM Hi-Roller. I don't know why but for some reason I started playing machines again. I've not played one in an arcade since then, but would love something 'Arcadey' at home. Also, the faster I lose cash in that, the less I can lose in an arcade.
I don't have the keys for my bandits, and I've never so much as considered gaining entry to them - at least no matter what I lose, it is my cash in them which I can get out when I have to pay stuff off...
So there you have it. It's a combination of saving, and keeping me out of arcades. I know it isn't a great solution but at the minute it is the best I can come up with, plus I like the idea of having a Lo-Tech

How abouts ne of them Partytime single player, or a Union machine. They suck in loads.
This is a site for EMULATION purposes of older machines. Not playing strategies.
If you are more interested in playing modern machines,

Basicly 'good' (in my opinion 2002/3) lo tec machines will be expensive, Party time player (single) is very expensive as Astra have only made about 150 of them price £7000! Bar X 10 is about £2700, as is magic 7, 10 etc. You might as well get a good multiplayer for £7000
From coinslot pg 15. JNC Sales 0117-938-2552. All available in £25 or £5 unless otherwise stated.
Project Golden Wheel £25 £500
Astra Crazy Blaze £1000
BWB Circus Circus Circus £1,250
Vivid Red White and Blue £2,350
Astra Little Devils 4pl £5 £2,350
Astra Vegas Nights £3,450
Lots more Pm me (more expensive)
Hope this helps!

...Now also considering getting a Clubber
All the appeal of high jackpot games (like Sec16s), but FAR cheaper to buy.

get yourself to GA mate. This road is only gonna make you gamble more. Think about why you've started gambling again? Sort out those problems before wasting your money on a machine which I GAURANTEE you will get bored with in 2 days.

If he wants to get a clubby then let him. Tbh, i think you should have the keys to your machine because for all you know the machine might not be going in the hopper/cashbox.
Clubbys take a lot of money if you want to save, don't get the simpsons machine pays far too many jp's for my liking (i own one).

Cheers for the replies all.
TBH I thought about the arcade today, but couldn't be arsed going in. I honestly think I am pretty much over my gambling 'problems' now, and see what was I admit a pretty big loss as just me being a f***wit
I think of it as being like smoking. I quit in August, and while I may occasionally think about smoking, I've not had a cigarette since August. I need to keep in that frame of mind about machines - after all, they are pretty much everywhere. Just a case of seeing them and thinking 'no way am I going to play that piece of shit'. After my experience on that Hi-Roller I now understand just how rigged to fook these sec16s are. For every person that starts a 'WOW I WON £500 THREAD', theres another 10 people who have ploughed £500 into one of them with no return.
So thanks to the poster above for the GA mention. I think the fact I was thinking about the arcade today in a negative way, and without any real effort walked past and didn't go in, shows I still have enough control to say no - but I'll keep that advice to hand incase I ever wind up in there again.
Still think that having a machine of my own is a good idea. While I've toyed with the idea of getting machines 100% out of my life, that would mean canning this site, scrapping several machines, and probably giving up my darts. The best solution is to have a machine of my own, know how ruthless they can be, and remain in control by not playing any machines other than my own - accepting they exist but not wasting my time on them.

If you could afford an Elvis that'd give you great visuals and audio and rip your money off you in a truly efficient fashion. The little features and wide variety of audio will keep you entertained for a bit.
Unfortunately I imagine it's a tad expensive, so how about a Magic 10? Large cycle machines will be unpredictable and in that respect, exciting, BUT as previously discussed, expensive.
How about a BFG Crazy Fruits? A classic theme, quick slick gameplay and good audio will provide fun, reasonably wild antics on a high % I believe these are significantly cheaper than your Electrocoin/Astra arcade mainstays.
The Union games are based on Crazy Fruits and offer a similar profile, minus the anti-player in built technology for a more predictable, less edgy game. A cheap build, they should cost less than Crazy Fruits, but the later ones such as 24 Carat Gold (Maygay badge)/Rock 'n Roll /Monkey Business (IMpulse)/Full Monty don't offer the exciting 'big' straks of 'Fruit Drop' on such a regular basis (they can still do a ton on 80%+) and will offer more 'enhanced' periods of gameplay. Predictable and samey you will tire quick, plus they are emulated. JPM Cheeky Cherry and Kerching will not be entertaining for home use. At least Astras and Electrocoins will give you the challenge of keeping track of the cycle at cost to your wallet and sanity.
I'll enquire about the price of some of CMS (Thomas Estates house in build company) tomorrow. If you have an 8 Liner in the house it'll rip your brains out. Their video stuff is too expensive, the TFT 30" screen in 'Haunted House' alone will set you back 2.5K. Cheap build CMS reel based products in the Rio cabinet may be more within your budget, although as it's s16 and designed for use on their sites, not sure it's for private use sale. I'll ask the engineer/manageress if I pop in there tomorrow on my lunch break.
Failing that a Crazy Fruits is my nomination.
As for clubbers, quite a few emulated now, so go for a MPU5 jobbie, Temple of Treasure for example. Even a OoohahDracula club or a MPython clubber, probably more up your street Ben.
Going back to your experience on Random Spinner, I played the one in Wesward Ho! once when it was still emptiable (didn't know the emptier myself), I put in 50p and just didn't like the look of it. It is renowned for sucking several hundred and offerring no get out points. Ditto for 8 Liner. Elvis on the other hand gives a better game and has some real nice touches. The video clips you get with five Elvis symbols in a row are a real class touch and the whole package is just so well presented it makes Random Spinner/8 Liner look like a collection of dog's do-dos - hold on that's because......
Anyway, have you ever considered a job within the amusement Industry? It'd be a vent for your interest in gaming and hopefully a diversion away from spunking your wages in the arcade.

Yeah, I'm looking at something around £300, which in 3 months time I'll either keep, or sell at a minimal loss.
If I wanted to simulate having a Sec16, I would get a pair of dice, change all the sides to show 6s, then have bets on how often I would get a number less than 12 from the pair.
Seriously, I couldn't believe it. The Hi-Roller was following very similar behaviour to a 'normal' percentage dictated AWP.
Basically £20 in, gave one spin up top for £20, and by £40 in I had £40 in the bank. Decided to keep going. Another £120 in, no spin up top. After a dead patch of about £60, it rolled in £20 or so (Full House, gave a Joker IIRC), then died again. Almost like it was saying 'thats £60 in, chuck him £20 and clam up again'.
Can't believe I fell for such shite, and if I ever play a Sec16 again I give you permission to castrate me with a rusty refill key.
