If anyone signing up for new membership was required to type the following into an 'I understand and agree to abide by the following' style submit box:

" I acknowledge that MPU5 has NOT, to the best of Fruit-Emu's knowledge or public admittance, YET been emulated. If this, at any time, should cease to be the case then I trust the Powers That Be to be kind enough to alert me to this effect via the Latest Site News section of this site's homepage. In the meantime, if I should make enquiries pertaining to the availability of this technology through emulation then I should not be in the least surprised if I get flamed from here to hyperspace or referred to as anything from a 'One Off The Wrist merchant' to a particular item of female genitalia. "

i think hybrids are a good thing...partytime proved that the emulator could not just do what is was meant for. but by changing the graphics and manipulating lamping i could not emulate the machine, but replicate a brand.
if you look at my other two machines i done one was a original 2p play one armed bandit set in an arcade background..the other was a vegas machine.. showing that the emulator could do more than it was meant for.. which other people have also successfully made..
also just as a side note.. i WAS in the scene with another user name with a few classics under my belt in the hovel. at the very begining. if you are so good to look at previous post,s concerning my asking for mpu5 and partytime then you can also find refernce to this coment before. the reason i left the so called scene last time and joined the pinall emu scene was for all the arguing and split offs maybe thats why this scene as i see it it so divided. same way the pinball scene has gone with personal attacks and scene splits. so although mythicos i applaud your many dx,s and acknowledge your layouts and contributions.. please dont get on my back and piss me off,
otherwise i,l have to go down alths route and call you a c***.lol

And MY point was that noone ever reads that.

It's pretty simple really.

When you first discover fruit machine emulation (god it was so long ago I almost forget how it felt now but I can...barely) the first thing that happens is your brain explodes into a frenzy of trying to remember all the machines that you loved so dearly way back when.

Or, you might even remember a more current machine.

And thus, when you sign up for your account you do it in such a haste that you dont tend to read all the disclaimers and so on.

Also remember that to some TECHs is a word to explain people sitting around computers with a screwdriver.

Ok, Ill point an example.

When I first arrived on the maroney msn forum around 5.3 years ago the *first* thing I wanted to know was "hey guys, why doesnt lineup have any sound?"

To which I got the (patient) reply "sorry pandy mate, mpu3 sound isnt emulated yet"

At which point I was confused to shit.. so I asked "whats mpu3" at which point someone replied "mpu3 is the computer technology in line up.. mpu means main processor unit, and it has barcrest's 3rd version in it"

Ok, now we were getting somewhere even though this was all covered in alex's readme lol.

Then I asked "well why does line up look all f***ed up?"

"ah, thats because it's a pdx mate !"

"erm, whats a pdx?"

And so it went on.

All it takes is a little kindness, that's all, and some patience.

AND most importantly the ability to remember the day you arrived and were so overcome with excitement that you may have wanted very quick answers to your burning questions.

And let's not even waste time on hybrids shall we?

f*****g hybrid I ask you.. if it's not the machine you played then erm, it's not the machine you played.

You couldnt do what you'd like to do with pamela anderson with a cardboard cutout of her, could you?

And madman, the ammount of downloads on a layout means jack, all that displays is the ammount of people whom were tricked into downloading a layout they believed to be the real thing and then found out otherwise.

i think hybrids are a good thing...partytime proved that the emulator could not just do what is was meant for.

Emulation : to 'emulate' or 'replicate' an old piece of hardware or software accurately and precisely as possible.

Using it as a simulator is kinda like using a computer for a hat, and about as silly.

If you're emulating a machine you do it to emulate the way it played, the way it sounded and least importantly (and the reason we have the ability to construct classic layouts) the graphics.

Of course, the graphics are the least important thing, its what's beating away underneath that matters.

There is no way to emulate a fruit machine perfectly because of the mass of ways you can graphically present it, none of them being correct.

But Id rather spend my time trying than waste time trying to make a machine that looks like the one I wanted.

so all those people who have done hybrids are silly and hybrids in your opinion are useless as they dont emuate the machine intended.lol
think all those line ups you have done have totally f***ed your head right up.
and using a cardboard cut out of pamela anderson is a very poor analogy.
this is getting boring now.
which is what i have been saying for he last 6 months and why i have been on mainly ff were its a bit more lively at least.

Yes

I think all that glue you sniff has f***ed your head up.

That or you know I'm right and don't have anything to come back with, instead chosing to throw an insult at me.

No it isnt.
If you were to come home and find a cardboard cutout of pamela anderson in your bed it wouldnt be much use would it? very dissapointing.
Thus, loading up the emulator and loading a layout you THOUGHT was party time, looked like it and all but then realised it wasnt the ACTUAL party time would be the same.

It's called philosophy, if something pretends to be something but isnt really the real deal then it's dissapointing.

Basically my philosophy was based on the grounds that these people that had all rushed off to download the layout thought they were getting THE REAL PARTY TIME.
And thus when they didnt they probably felt pretty f***ed off, unless of course they tricked themselves into really believing it was party time.

It wasnt tho, so what was the f*****g point? to play a shit machine that LOOKED like party time.

Beginning to get it now? a cardboard cutout LOOKS like pamela anderson but it ISNT REALLY pamela anderson.

this is getting boring now.

And so is seeing a bunch of thickies who know not what they talk about preaching to people who dare ask a f*****g question.

which is what i have been saying for he last 6 months and why i have been on mainly ff were its a bit more lively at least.

Yeah because it's people like you with their 'long time l33t' attitudes that kill forums.

Do you see? a new poster comes along, asks a question and instead of getting an answer he gets insulted.

At which point he thinks "f*** me what a bunch of twats" and doesnt post again.

And THAT is what has made this forum quiet.

Back when you were all noobs none of you acted like elitists and your forum was fun to visit.

Now? it's gone to your f*****g head too much.

line up.lol

You know for every line up I have done I have used the correct roms each time and striven to better myself.

Not made a couple of layouts then sat up on my pedestal of eliteness preaching to others.

were i am elitest..
were am i preaching.
i have on numerous occasions help people to make there own layouts as i was taught. these were also noobs. i always answer questions on my msn too noobs. i will always try too help if i can. and i never ever said my party time was real. it was based on party time....as much as i wanted to do a real machine based dx the artwork was never forthcoming . even 3 weeks ago if you look i asked once again for super black jack club pics. of which i was after the same existing ones which were glass scans from about 1 year ago.
still waiting.
and if you go back to what i originally said it was a request to have a page to advise no mpu5 emulation ect ect..
i have all your line up dx,s here and play them often and as i said before they are very good. so why attack a hybrid. its still a fruit machine. people can still play it. how many machines use the select roms. bloody good artwork on most of em.
i beleive some of our moderators used incorrect roms for machines as well.
just because someone wants to do different things doesn,t mean its shit or useless as you called. i remember the post,s about. oh no not another line up.
i wasnt one of em cos i love it. but certain people were moaning because yet another line up was on the cards. its horses for courses.
this is now definately boring. i am 37 not 7 and arguing with someone who cant grasp a statement, and who thinks on a straight line and never veers off it bores me as well. which means that YOU bore me. its nice sometimes to break from you usual routine and do something different.
it might be useful for you to visit the pinball emulation scene were using the emulator to do original machines including fruitmachines and stretching the emualator is indeed applauded. are you a pensioner who doesnt like to change cos u r scared of something. cos you f*****g moan like one and act like one......... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
boring ...........

M: (Knock)
A: Come in.
M: Ah, Is this the right room for an argument?
A: I told you once.
M: No you haven't.
A: Yes I have.
M: When?
A: Just now.
M: No you didn't.
A: Yes I did.
M: You didn't
A: I did!
M: You didn't!
A: I'm telling you I did!
M: You did not!!
A: Oh, I'm sorry, just one moment. Is this a five minute argument or the full half hour?
M: Oh, just the five minutes.
A: Ah, thank you. Anyway, I did.
M: You most certainly did not.
A: Look, let's get this thing clear; I quite definitely told you.
M: No you did not.
A: Yes I did.
M: No you didn't.
A: Yes I did.
M: No you didn't.
A: Yes I did.
M: No you didn't.
A: Yes I did.
M: You didn't.
A: Did.
M: Oh look, this isn't an argument.
A: Yes it is.
M: No it isn't. It's just contradiction.
A: No it isn't.
M: It is!
A: It is not.
M: Look, you just contradicted me.
A: I did not.
M: Oh you did!!
A: No, no, no.
M: You did just then.
A: Nonsense!
M: Oh, this is futile!
A: No it isn't.
M: I came here for a good argument.
A: No you didn't; no, you came here for an argument.
M: An argument isn't just contradiction.
A: It can be.
M: No it can't. An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition.
A: No it isn't.
M: Yes it is! It's not just contradiction.
A: Look, if I argue with you, I must take up a contrary position.
M: Yes, but that's not just saying 'No it isn't.'
A: Yes it is!
M: No it isn't!

A: Yes it is!
M: Argument is an intellectual process. Contradiction is just the automatic gainsaying of any statement the other person makes.
(short pause)
A: No it isn't.
M: It is.
A: Not at all.
M: Now look.
A: (Rings bell) Good Morning.
M: What?
A: That's it. Good morning.
M: I was just getting interested.
A: Sorry, the five minutes is up.
M: That was never five minutes!
A: I'm afraid it was.
M: It wasn't.
Pause
A: I'm sorry, but I'm not allowed to argue anymore.
M: What?!
A: If you want me to go on arguing, you'll have to pay for another five minutes.
M: Yes, but that was never five minutes, just now. Oh come on!
A: (Hums)
M: Look, this is ridiculous.
A: I'm sorry, but I'm not allowed to argue unless you've paid!
M: Oh, all right.
(pays money)
A: Thank you.
short pause
M: Well?
A: Well what?
M: That wasn't really five minutes, just now.
A: I told you, I'm not allowed to argue unless you've paid.
M: I just paid!
A: No you didn't.
M: I DID!
A: No you didn't.
M: Look, I don't want to argue about that.
A: Well, you didn't pay.
M: Aha. If I didn't pay, why are you arguing? I Got you!
A: No you haven't.
M: Yes I have. If you're arguing, I must have paid.
A: Not necessarily. I could be arguing in my spare time.
M: Oh I've had enough of this.
A: No you haven't.
M: Oh Shut up.
